6spd swap won't work. Euro 5spd swap probably won't work. The CAN system won't allow it as far as I know.

The cars that "smoke" you have either less weight or more power or both, and better gearing than you. That's not sad, that's physics.

More power should be available before the end of the year (Pettit's s/c). If you can get the RE Amemiya turbo for $5k CAD, I'd be impressed. I'd guess more like $8-10k. Then someone has to install it and tune it.

 

Best thing to do is trade it in. You'll take a bath, otherwise.

how did you get beat by a mini cooper-s??? i raced my friend and smoked his *** like crazy. their 0-60 time is in the high 6s and low 7s. he must have had some stuff put in it, or you missed a gear.

 

Unless you're dropping the clutch, the manual RX-8 is a mid 6 second car. So that puts the automatic in the 7's. If the mini cooper gets a high 6, I can easily see it winning.

 

The automatics need about 8 seconds to get to 60.

i have a 5 spd man....... i'd, if possible, swap for a 6 speed, slap on a turbo, and laugh at the face of a 350Z, in a straightline, then if there are some twisties involved.. well.... i'd pull over and order a coffe to wait for it.

not to mention those m3 hipicrotes who think they own the road...... if only.......... oooh, boy, if only! *dreams of a 6 spd*

Just remember there is always a faster car than you. What happens when that stock Z that you beat in a straightline decides to get some bolt ons, or FI? They will make you look just as silly as you did when you raced stock.

thing is i've heard about more turbo 8s then turbo zs. and i would doubt that turbo will give them our handling in a roundabout

and don't get me wrong, of course there'll be faster cars.. but Z's are our 8's personal enemy.. and M's are mine :P as long as i can wave them bye-bye, i won't give a damn when a z06 flashes me

Dude if you had the choice just buy a half cut 13b-rew and settle it.
400+ ponies easy, that would be my first choice if i didnt get the snail.

 

Since the Cosmos 20B was for an auto tranny, would that make it any easier to swap into an AT 8?

I've never heard of adding on half of another 13B. I'd like to hear more about that too.

 

If you purchased the hyper rev volume 96 and 110, you can get to see 2 companies that did the conversion likely burnout and JIC. If i am not wrong.
It wouldnt come cheap also, at least SGD10k everything in, recon 13b, relocation and labour. etc....
