Smile Rumour - RX8 2006 AT 6 speed

Hi everyone

I read on this site that Mazda will be putting in the new 6 speed AT in their 2006 RX8 models. This is the same one that will be available in their MX5-Miata model.

Would this improve HP and gas mileage?

less tourque, more power, less MPG

High pressure forced induction will also go out the window as it will proberly have the same air malarky as the standard 6sp

NOPE! 6speed feels like it has more torque from my experiences

The 6spd in the current RX8 is shared with the MS Miata, albeit with slightly different gear ratios.

My guess is that we will share the same tranny with the new Miata, which is brand new, both for the manual and auto, again, with slightly different gearing. I will be in udder shock if the 2006 RX8 auto isn't a 6spd.

Look on the bright side, tranny swaps are much easier with RWD

Yeah, but with this ecu? I assume the ecu acts as the tcu for shift points, limits, etc. Does the gear indicator on the gauge cluster go past 4?
