New K&N typhoon intake
New K&N typhoon intake
I just bought and installed the new intake from K&N on my A/T 8. If there are any of you out there that are looking to buy it it is worth it. It took me about an hour to install and it was not hard to do at all. You don't really hear the intake until around 3000-3500 rpms. It has a real nice deep sound to it and it makes the car sound like a ricer. It also makes the car more responsive. It is well worth the money if you are looking for your car to sound nicer and feel nicer.

im really waiting for someone to post up some real reviews or video clips of this...
i am REALLY leaning towards this than a REVI because of the fact that the bumper doesnt have to be removed for installation.....

I'm pretty sure the filter is included. 69-6030-1TFK is the part number for the new intake system on K&N's website. Yeah, I'm really considering gettin this or the REVI too. If this K&N doesn't lose you power like the old one, I just might get it. lol
I screwed up on auction. I tried to buy Intake about 2 minutes after auction stopped. $210 for intake had my attention plus good things said about second K & N attempt at intake. I would think seller list again and I will be ready this time.

performance-wise, youre probably better off removing the bumper either way (it's not really that hard to do, takes maybe 30 minutes the first time, and about 10 mins once you learn the drill), to get the VFAD ducting out of the way of the front air hole. This increases the size of the opening into the front bumper cavity through which outside sir would flow into the intake.
Unless you're looking for bigger noise, I'd personally reccomend the Revi (I've got the Revi, which replaced a previous generation typhoon with heat shield).
The difference in the top end isn't really noticable on the street (I've heard rumors that with the stock ecu it's almost impossible to get the butterfly valve in the throttle all the way open, which can reduce the gains from an intake), but the Revi is less of a dog in the 3k-4k RPM range. That issue may not still be a factor with this new typhoon design.
Also, if you've got an AT then you obviously won't see any gains in the 7500-9k RPM band regardless of which intake you use.
I dont want an intake that SOUNDS nicer, or FEELS nicer...i want want that PROVES GAINS. i could care less that it 'sounds so awesome at 3500 RPMs'. if that sort of thing made me wet i'd be driving a Civic Si.
and i made a mistake with my discription. you dont only hear the intkae at 3500 rpms. if you are drving the car in the city you only really hear until it is reved to 3000 but if you give the car gas you will hear it as soon as u hit the gas

yeah thats cause dyno numbers are all that matter who cares how the car feels we all want to be dyno queens.
personally i'd rather gain 1 whp and have the car feel GREAT than gain 20 peak hp and have a spikey power curve
thats why when i had my focus i paid 265 for a t body and loved every minute of it
1 whp but ungodly throttle response

not sure how a car feels GREAT if it's not proving any gains? maybe it works that way on your Ford Focus? :p didn't realize you got such improvements such as 'ungodly throttle response' from adding an intake! you would surely make some great friends on the Honda Civic forums....
