The a/t will down shift for you but you end up lugging it and that's not good. Get in the habit of manually down shifting when using the paddles. If in stop and go traffic just put it in auto and relax cuz that's why you purchased the a/t. When driving for the fun of it shame on you if you leave it in auto mode. Keep those RPMs up. Your trans is not really a manual it just has a "manual" mode.

Thanks for the response. I know about the auto being in manual mode. I will down shift then.

I love 2nd and 3rd gear!!

Ah, my 8 gets abused by me a lot.. Redlining it daily.. And then some more.. Although, I got to shift back into Auto mode after I get outta class, freaking traffic! Past that, of course, back to the abusiveness.

wow -

i guess i missed the abusive bus - due to traffic i stay in AT mode til i break out into the streets - then it's all 'MT' mode...

but yeah, like Leesha - my favorite are the 2nd and 3rd as well...iono, i just feel more of the pull throughout those gears than any other...

All fellow AT's just a question about down-shifting. I know its kinda dumb question but Do u guys down-shift once or twice? me i downshift 3x. example: im in 6th gear and i downshift to 3rd gear to kicks some more power. Is this ok? or its gonna damage my tranny or engine?(i hope not) The reason why im doing this cuZ i just want more torque specially if im in race mode.

any thoughts? comments? suggestions? ThnX!

Go FI and feel the difference - You will even fall in love with 1st gear. Leesa talks about the faster take off, with FI you will need to temper your take offs. Atilla will stay off the fwy if he had FI just so he could play with it. ShinkaChicago would gain the torque he is looking for.

sqbb: If you PM (private message) sosonic he can explain the RE-Amenya flash better than I can. I take it from your response you do not know how to PM some one. On the drop downs find "Private Messages" install the name "sosonic" in the appropriate box, type your message and hit "submit". Just a form of email on the forums.

Come to SSX and see all the wonders of the 8 on display. Stop by the Paradox Performance booth and see Charles R. Hill, MazdaManiac and me (I'll be the anonymous one).

FYI - I don't believe you are abusing this engine by redlining it. As long as you keep oil in it and don't overheat it. Rotaries love to rev. Especially the Renesis. I was told by Paul at Mazmart that because of the side exhaust ports, the Renesis seems to be more prone to carbon buildup if you DON'T rev it. At least if I understood him correctly. Any errors are my responsibility, not Paul's

I will downshift when I need the extra power to pass, etc. I don't think you are hurting anything by doing this. That is what happens if you are in automatic mode and put it to the floor. The car just does it for you. In fact, it will do it for you even if you are in manual mode if you floor it under certain conditions - or at least it will on the 4AT.

I would love FI, infact, oh, I am actually plannig to buy 1, god damn those dollar bills they are hard to find, hey phil, how long have you had that supercharger on?
any chance it will ever do close to 300whp? I'm hoping for that much on my 8, but I think I'd turbo it, because hell, we only got 7500 rpm anyways

btw, STAY OFF THE 5 and the 91 in the morning man, local=faster

My goal is 300 - 325 whp. I think that it's possible and if possible I'll do it. I was the first Pettit s/c west of the Mississippi and the first that Pettit shipped - Installed by Paradox Performance and tuned by Paradox Performance. Time on the car, maybe three months, four months? - time just moves to fast to keep track. What makes you think we only have 7500 RPMs? My red line is 9000, every 8 I ever seen is 9000 do you have something different than the rest of us? If you talking about shift points on the a/t then you should go back and read a little. When you add an emanage you loose all those points. Now you still need to use Caution as the a/t in the stock form is not able to or does it want to accept shifting beyond 8000. That may be just a memory sometime in the near future but you never will be able to go to a full 9000 with the type of a/t that we have. DO NOT TEST THIS - IT CAN CAUSE HARM TO YOUR 8 AND HARM TO YOUR BODY.
What are you studying at Cal State Long Beach? I have a baby sister that is a Prof there and she also works for the ABC school district as a consultant. Maybe your in one of her classes and I can have her keep an eye on you

Hell, sorry I screwed up . Yep and add Chickenwafer to that list that will be at the Paradox Performance booth. He'll be the one that resembles Thor (and about the same size)

When passing I'll down to the lowest gear possible. Sometimes as much as 10X's in a second
