Indeed you're not alone.

I wasn't aware of the power band tho- (speaking about the shift at 7K)

I suppose it wouldn't be much of a change if i did go fi - my stock 6spd AT has a sweet spot in 4th gear between 4500~7k where it pulls significantly harder than when it passes 7k. I found that waiting til after that sweet spot passes actually runs me a little slower than hitting it dead on. Iono - it's probably me...

Phil, i'm not too sure what you meant by 'why i wait for fi' - wether you meant "why wait for a tranny upgrade when it would be helpful to have while you're NA anyways" or why i wait in general.

Why i wait in general.

1. Money - i would love to go with a Mazsport Turbo or a Pettit Stage 3 but by the looks of things i'm probably gonna end up going with a Greddy and get the upgrade from mazsport.

2. Knowledge - I've always been far more fascinated with driving cars rather than knowing what's in it. That is til i got my 8. My knowledge of cars is pretty basic at best, but i am a quick study. I don't want to be the guy that puts in stuff because he 'heard' it makes your car faster. i wanna know what it is, what it does, how long it does it for and what happens if it breaks. I don't want to throw money at things (mainly because of #1) and i don't like making mistakes that could've been avoided by knowing what to look for. All n' all i would really love to go fi by next year but as of right now i feel like it's just too far fetched...

why i would wait to have it now while NA.

No reason - i would get it if someone's got it. haha.

I hope you did not take my posting wrong. I was only trying to say that life is too short to wait for the perfect scenario. Even if you have to jump in with a lower end product you will gain knowledge and friends. There are people on these forums that are willing to give their time and their expertise and others that are willing hands so that they can learn along with you.
I am hoping to get a chance to ride in/drive a turbo-ed a/t at SSX so I can see first hand the differences, similarities and where improvements are required. Hope to see you there, I'll be incognito at the Paradox booth

Hope to make it there too.

my 8's still in the shop - and not due to return til possibly the end of next month. either way though i feel i'm pretty serious about going FI. Perhaps in the next year if i manage to get the promotion i'm in line for - I'll be able to present another AT w/FI

p.s.- if i do manage to get out to SSX - i'll definately be stopping by the paradox booth with my note pad and wallet...haha-
