Wideband o2 bung placement

Where is the proper place to weld in a bung for a wideband o2 gauge?

I received the wbo2 kit for the mazsport interceptor-x today and on the instruction provided it says to weld the bung a few inches behind the front factory o2 sensor and slightly stagger the new sensor so that it receives direct exhaust flow.

My local shop welded a bung for my AEM UEGO gauge onto the greddy downpipe adapter. Something tells me that's not the correct spot and that my AFR are noo accurate with the sensor that close to the turbo.

Greddy downpipe adapter

If you still have a CAT, mount it just before the exit flange on the downpipe, pointed at the transmission (right at the bottom of your circle in your pic).
If you don't have a CAT, mount it at the end of you midpipe.
The sensor will live longer there.

Look at that little, tiny turbo.

Thanks again for your help. That makes perfect sense.

The further away the sensor is the less heat it will absorb. I do currently have a cat but I plan to get the Mazsport midpipe in the next few months.

Hmmmm....
