Cool Upgrading an auto RX8 for more HP

Hi,
i am new to this forum, having just purchased a used RX8 doing 51,000 kms. It's a japanese spec and runs well. My question is, aside from the regular mods of intake, exhaust and pulleys, can an automatic version be fitted with say a supercharger or turbo charger? It's a 4 speed 2004 year model with the auto/manual setup.

yes, but to be done right fi is about 8-10k. sell your auto and buy a stick. a properly set up fi 4 port will yield more power than a 6spd but not all that much and will require alot of money, time and tuning.

ps. since you are new you will be told to search and probably get flamed for this thread. gl

yea ryan but ur AT is atleast the 6 speed not the 4 speed.

Goin on FI on a 4pt AT seems very pointless, if you want to dump that money into your car atleast get the 6 port AT if stick just isnt for you.

why would it be pointless? Phil's 4port is at 260 hp, chasing 300, mine will be 250hp very soon just waiting on some fabrication, and also chasing 300. This is a similar figure to 6port with basic greddy FI kit no?

I dunno in the states, but here in Australia the price difference alone between a early model 4 port and 6 port will get you a basic FI setup going

You also have to consider is that the 4port puts out more tq then the 6port due to the gear difference so it's really not pointless brandyn. If your going for hp youll have more room to play around with the 6 port more the the 4 port.

Also the where abouts of the op is important too for emmisions since he has a JDM version instead of a detuned US version. He will get more power overall.

A 6port a/t and manual are near the same power, near enough to tell the m/t fanbois to back off. In the current market the 4a/t can be purchased at a bargain so the addition of FI will off set the price to power ratio that the 6m/t fanbois like to rant about. You don't have to get to exotic to make that happen and todays turbos and s/c do not require very much upkeep.

Yea that's true but those of us with the Cobb AP can overcome the detune easly and still meet emmision standards.
