Turbo Manifold for REW Swap

So I am looking around to see if I will want to fab up a turbo manifold or just purchase one for a REW swap. I am running across a lot of divided T4 manifolds, with a single wastegaste flange. Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of a divided/ twinscroll setup? Or is it negligible?

links are welcome.

I was initially looking at the full race or turblown manifold which have dual, divided wastegates. Are these better?

If the runners that deliver to the WG flange remain separated all the way to the flange, this shouldn't impact performance.
If the runners that deliver to the WG flange are of reasonable length before they merge, and they merge in the same direction, this wouldn't cause much of an issue either.

Post up a few more manifolds you're looking at and people can suggest which ones might work best. Whether they fit in your rx8 is another story. That's where fab'ing your own is good. Either way, you should check out the relevant section of Corky Bell's book to learn more about it. There are copies of it floating around other car club forums on the Internet - shame he hasn't released it officially in digital format, he'd get a lot more sales.

Looking at the links you've posted above, I'd take a punt and say the Turblown one performs better than the Full Race one due to the way the WG flanges come off the primary runners at a much smoother angle. Given that roughly 1/3rd of the exhaust could be going out the WG at WOT, less turbulence = more WOT performance.

Thank you I will have to look for that book. So pretty much it is OK if the runners for the WG are equal length and same direction to the flange. So how about this?

Nope, that one's not ideal as the exhaust pulses from the right side runner will go through the wg pipe and then create a lot of turbulence where the WG pipe meets the left runner.

This one here has a better WG piping design as the two WG pipes merge quite a long way away from the primary runners.
304 should be fine, but you'll want to make sure the wall thickness is around 3mm. Any thinner and there's more chance of it cracking at some stage down the track. Have a chat with the guys at the store and ask how many they've sold and if they've had many of them come back cracked.

TBH you probably won't see a massive difference in performance between the different types, but hey, if you can get a manifold that gives another 10whp at the top end for a similar price, it'll be worth it.

Edit: That Turblown one is still my pick though - pipe thickness is good (sch40 = about 3.5mm), pipe ID is a good size and the runners look smooth and similar length.
