switching maps on the fly?

before i get flamed sorry for not searching.. i dont know what to search for cuz i dont really know what it is that im looking for lol..

so i just got the greddy turbo kit... and i want to have 2-3 maps 1 daily driving low boost(5-6psi) 2medium boost 9psi 3 raping boost 12psi now waht do i need to be able to change the maps on the fly (like push of a button to switch maps) is it the ecu or do i need a laptop or something else?

Depends what ECU you are running....

LiL BenNy 01-01-2007 11:50 PM

looking on running the interceptor x.... is it the ecu that controls htis or like a boost controller or...?

dannobre 01-02-2007 12:05 AM

The ECu controls the maps ;)

I think there is a handheld unit for the IntX which allows maps to be changed on they fly. The dongle stores them...and I think you need a laptop if you don't have the handheld unit

If you really want to know anything about this unit...PM Scott or Mantis (Betsy) at Mazport and they will help you decide what and how you can do what you want

You can just run a boost controller to change the boost levels though...you don't have to change the maps for that. You do have to chnge them for fuel and might want to have different maps if you live in one altitude/ temp area and go to a drastically different one often.

I think Scott has recommendations on that as well.

He is a great guy....if you phone them they will answer your questions.....

To reiterate: you can tune for all boost levels in a single map, so you'd just need a boost controller.

You'll want an electronic boost controller to control from the cockpit!

so is the greddy profec 01 good enough for that solution?

ps thanks for all your help guys!

mikeschaefer 01-02-2007 07:30 PM

It's a little excessive as it's advertised as an e-manage programmer and datalogger as well. You could get the profec B spec II for much cheaper, as well as a few other good solutions.

I don't think the E0-1 works with the EMU either...just the Blue......

with my car i do that switch from Street Pump Gas Map (567 whp) to race high octane fuel (734WHP) with a simple flip from a toggle switch with Haltech E11v2. :ylsuper:

well the interceptor has a boost controller and monitor set up that you can buy seperately... https://www.rx8club.com/mazsport-104/microtech-dash-display-104711/

as for switching maps... well its possible to have multiple maps for different boost applications... but it will take time to load.... its not like hitting a button... if you get it tuned by scott at mazsport thought he should be able to tune it so you can switch between two boost settigns (this statement is not stating that he can or will, it is just saying that i think i remember him saying that so do not quote me on that)

mysql101 01-04-2007 07:11 AM

as was said earlier, you don't need two maps. the stock map that comes with the int-x should be fine. Just get it tuned to work out the little issues for drivability and you're set. you'll be able to go 6 psi (no boost controller, or boost controller set low) to 12 psi (with boost controller) at the push of a button.

The only reason I would want two maps in my int-x is if I wanted a map for cold and one for hot (not just due to temps, but also changes in the fuel itself). Or to go between 93 oct and 87 oct..

If you're running turbo with factory engine you can run it with Haltech E 8 it has the capability of e11v2
,the difference between it's the e11v2 have more driver needed for 20b engine.
