You guys wanted the footage, it's there for those that want to see it. Obviously the ones that have no intentions of even purchasing a turbo kit are just nit picking (maybe because you have nothing better to do?).
Putting up the video quickly for everyone was great. Depending on what your needs are, your kit is good too. Standing in the face of all the criticism, that's great. But "shooting from the hip" like that in response to the criticism... jump in the car and shoot a quick clip of the car running down the road was a bad idea. Taking a few minutes to sit down and plan out a good shoot... maybe get a digital video camera... that it just being professional (as I believe you are). Yes there has been criticism her (some by myself as well), but you guys are pros... always act like it. not trying to kick you while you're down... just offering a bit of advice.

Theonly thing Igot off of thisvideo was that the blowoff valve was pretty loud (justlike theyre supposed to be). Doesnt reallytell me much about the kit though. I wouldhave liked to see a video fromINSIDE of the car - of a launch from 0 till 62mph or maybe a 1/4 mile. Some clips of the car revving wouldhave been nice too (basicallythe same type of videos philodox made).

Butnow that Ithink about it guys - GReddy never posteda videoof their turbo kit on here - allthe videos wehave of their kit arefrom members - soyou have to giveSSR credit forat least takingsomeof their time to post these. I dontreally give a **** thatit was done out in the street. Jeff hasa small video of him speeding out inthe street w/his turbo Rx8 right next to a minivan. Idont remember anyonebitching at that one. All Imdisappointed about here is that SSRs videos dont tellme much about the kit

It's plain to see and I'm sad to say that the real problem here is you just don't get it - the criticism that is - you don’t even understand the issue .

Look -forum members, people in that town, your customers, heck anyone who values others safety will loose respect for your company when you "act like kids on a joyride", which is exactly what you were doing. Whether you care or not, believe me or not, I am losing respect for SSR as I type this. That just a fact..

What if you had an accident with someone pulling out, or injured or killed someone? Nice advertising for SSR, say what?
"Live at 7! Fatal crash in town center - filmed by company employees." Then front page news of a crashed RX-8 'in development from SSR' in the center of town make you happy? Does that mean anything to you? I have to believe you see the problem with that very possible situation, given that video footage, or at least I sorely hope you do.

Would you then say "Listen officer , Me having that accident was an IMMEDIATE response to people demanding to see proof of our new products - having to street race I mean - We had a lack of footage! Other reputable companies might not run out grab some quick footage to post.. but we did! Would the likes of RB, Petite, Greddy, HKS, Blitz and so forth do that? no way ! "(you must realize how ridiculour that sounds)

And I certainly have both better things to do than write this, AND intentions on purchasing a turbo kit ... actually I'm sorry I saw it, but after I did, your inability to 'get it' about some sensible critizism demands some rebuke.

BTW you could have likely defused this at the start, or even right now, by saying, "Sorry, we were just so excited about our turbo! But I see now in retrospect the poor judgement we used, we could have caused major problems. We'll never do that again, rest assured."

Now for that, you would gain some respect.

We definitely need better video footage, unfortunately the only thing we have to work with is a digital camera that is capable of shooting 30 second video clips.

can this be blown any further out of proportion? big deal that they filmed the vid on the street. it's not like they were swerving in and out of cars in the middle of traffic. why act high and mighty as if you've never sped on the street before to test out your car? whether they filmed it our not is inconsequential. it may have been irresponsible, but that not much more than that.

Imagine your son crossing that street getting out of the school to see if you are going to think the same way. Some kids don't look when crossing streets. I think it is irresponsible yes. Not big deal though but you gotta acknowledge it is not the right thing to do.

I know everybody is getting hot under the collar right now, but I have it on "good authority" that the accomplished "Mr. Frankenstein" from Death Race 2000 was behind the wheel of the RX-8. So everything was well under control, okay.... everybody just settle down!!!

I cant understand why it is so damn difficult to get descent video up. That is the single most important marketing tool. It hooks us to see our 8's boosted, to hear the renesis winding up and exhale, swooooosh........... Damn, I made a good video of my car the first week I had it, do a search, just a tripod and me cuttin up in a UNOCCUPIED parking lot. If you know anyone with a macintosh SSR, borrow a dv camcorder and a mac and it is SIMPLE. Please someone, some help here.

I agree to a point. The RX-8 has caused me to act a bit irresponsibly at times too. But, I'm not trying to sell a product. Too me it's a bit of an unprofessional image to create when your "marketing video" shows you on a public street at multiple times over the speed limit with pedestrians nearby.

Gives me the impression that SSR is not thinking things through and makes me wonder if they've thought everything through with their product. Did SSR seriously think the circumstances of their video would be overlooked? Can you really argue with the concerns of some poster's in this thread? I think not.

I agree with you in that it's not the greatest marketing tool, but not because the video is taking place on the street. If it were another company that that was selling an exhaust (RB for example), nobody would spend too much time worrying about safety of pedestrians. I think some latched onto this video because they are not happy SSR's justification for their turbo claims. That's all I'm saying.

All companies have to have social responsability, that is how businesses should run. No matter if they do exhaust, turbos or cookies.

Hey cut these guys some slack will you's. Sometimes I think some of us act like crying babies, We want them provide a great system yesterday, we want videos yesterday then when they do we don't like it because it was a dyno and not on the street, then they give us a video on the street , Then we complain it wasn't safe.

Holy **** what do you want from them. I'am glad they finally came out with the Turbo and from what they are saying 287hp at the wheels with more to come in the form of WI and more tuning with the TSI unit and safe.. Geez guys. I wonder if you whine like this to your girlfriends/wifes.....Some people can NEVER be pleased

I will go out on a limb and say that most people are intelligent until proven otherwise. In saying that, I think the video proved otherwise.
1) the length and info was not worth the effort.
and..
2) THE SAFETY OF THE VIDEO(OR LACK OF) WAS RIDICULOUS. You people who are defending them have to think of the high school kids who see that and think "cool, they are hauling *** on the street. maybe ill do that tonight after the kegger!"

I agree that the videos were useless. It can't be that difficult to find a dv camcorder, some are as cheap as digital cameras. It would be a good investment for ssr to buy a mac,dv camcorder for the marketing of this kit, I promise it would pay for itself. Marketing is key!!!! Hell, give me a kit and I'll make you some great video!

no agenda, i just am very interested in what is going on with the RX8 upgrades like everyone else here. I have only recently joined because i have only recently commited to getting one for myself soon and wanted the ability to ask questions and be better informed. I thought that was the point of the forum.

I dont advocate the thigs like I saw in the video because they create a negative outlook on aftermarket autos. We already have enough trouble with cops and tickets, I would not like some kids exuse to be "well i was just doing what the manufacturer of my turbo kit was doing when i ran over that little girl in the crosswalk." going fast is great, and i have even "street raced" a lot in the past. There is a place to do that though, like a back woods highway at 100 in the morning(if you have too).

one do you think RX8 owners are kids,WOW and if there might be one or two your sure not giving them a credit for having common sense... That's like these movies the kids go see, and I don't see all these so called kids shooting, raping, and murdering people than saying in their defense , that it was the movie that made them do it.... geez.. But your right on one point, this forum is open to all , including you and me....
