I got nothin' to prove :) If Brettus hits 500RWHP I will be very happy!

Third gear log...

A little more tweaking... That 3rd gear log was weak. This is still second here and starting to look a bit more promising...

Here's an overlay of the progression from the last three modifications I have made:

Brettus 09-02-2016 12:46 AM

Where did the big gain come from ?

yomomspimp06 09-02-2016 04:47 AM

and what is this tweaking you speak of?

slash128 09-02-2016 10:21 AM

I leaned it out some between 5K and 6.5K. Oh, and I added the MBC  Just making sure you guys are paying attention :)

In all seriousness though, JB got me thinking (thanks JB!) and looking at past logs and he is correct that my previous logs at 12psi last September were better than my current logs at 13psi. I used to spin the tires in 2'nd at 12psi, but not now at 13... Looking at the load curve and seeing it hit sooner I realized I had the MBC in back then, but adding it in still didn't get the tires spinning, even with a couple more psi's... I also did a pressure test, just to be sure, and found no leaks...

I'm still figuring out tuning with WI. I have it running really rich. From what I gather a properly sized nozzle will drop AFR by about 0.5 with no other changes. So where I was targeting 10.8 with no WI I started targeting 10.3. Since the stock O2 only goes down to 10.9 I have to watch the dash gauge and make some guesses. I know the dash gauge drops down in the low 10's but it is hard to keep it all straight and correlate with RPM by memory. Wish I had a (feasible) way of logging my gauge. But regardless, also from what I gather a properly sized nozzle should yield slightly higher power with no other changes, just by cooling the intake charge.

I am still working on it, but perhaps it is my motor build. It was my first ever rebuild, so maybe I didn't get it quite right.

Here is an overlay comparison. All 2'nd gear. The red and blue lines are from last September at 12psi, tires broke loose pretty early. Now the green line at 13psi (actually hitting a little higher based on the load, but I was focusing on AFR gauge, not boost) I have traction all the way through to red line.

Ok, not foolin' here ;)

I keep slowly leaning it out and it is getting better. This is back to no boost controller, where previous high was 252. If I can bring up the region from 5500-6500 I think I will be back in the realm I used to be in...

Anyone play with this table? Not sure what it will do.... My guess is it will add fuel where specified higher than 0.00????

Latest progress. Comparison between last two modifications. This is all just from steadily leaning it out. Still need in the 5500-6500 range. All at 13psi, no MBC...

This is the progression over the last 4 modifications:

how are your plugs looking?

Oooo good question. I'll have to pull them soon to see...

Brettus 09-03-2016 02:23 PM

Looks to me like you have APV coming on too late for 2nd ...

I agree.
That graph does look extra wavey

slash128 09-03-2016 02:44 PM

I'll try playing with the APV open RPM...

Brettus 09-03-2016 02:57 PM

In M/E there are two maps for the APV .I have never actually experimented with the second map to see what it's doing but I suspect it's for 1st or 2nd or both. The cobb maps only have 1 ...will be interested to see if you can adjust for second gear ............
The (2nd gear 16psi) log below was taken with settings of APVB- 5750 and APV-5900

yomomspimp06 09-03-2016 03:07 PM

it's going to be interesting seeing the lean spot move to a lower rpm.

slash128 09-03-2016 03:18 PM

I'll give it a go and see what I get...

slash128 09-03-2016 03:22 PM

Maybe I should quit letting second gear logs take the piss out of me and just get on with third gear already

Brettus 09-03-2016 03:24 PM

3rd gear logs are definitely more reliable ..... But it does look like you could get some big gains in 2nd just by playing with APV opening.

I'm doing 100mph at 8000rpm in 3rd with my 5 spd gearbox

yomomspimp06 09-03-2016 03:29 PM

3rd is good but 4th is better...

slash128 09-03-2016 03:34 PM

I'll save 4'th for the dyno :)

yomomspimp06 09-03-2016 03:34 PM

I'm always stirring the pot

Brettus 09-03-2016 04:04 PM

I've noticed that If I get my APV perfect for street logs , it all goes to shit on the dyno because the dyno ramp rate never matches reality .

slash128 09-03-2016 05:19 PM

I set the APV open RPM to 5750 but it didn't seem to change when it actually opens. I also leaned things out a tad more, and it seems to be trending in the right direction. Wish I could adjust the APV for 2'nd cuz it looks like when it does open it really let's loose, and I can feel it too! Though I am suspect I am starting to loose traction at APV open, which is why it is spiking so sharply...

Brettus 09-03-2016 05:51 PM

Damn ! looks like you need M/E to adjust apv in 2nd

slash128 09-03-2016 06:04 PM

Yeah.... at least I'm seeing what I used to see. Glad JB reminded me. I'm no longer questioning my rebuild :)

Brettus 09-03-2016 06:47 PM

You'll find 5750 is a little too soon for third BTW
