good progress. Can't wait to see some official numbers

Thanks man, hopefully in the next few weeks.

4.77 would be 375g/s on my maf scale which seems much closer to reality given boost and virtual dyno readings .

slash128 04-12-2013 09:43 PM

Something that I have been trying to wrap my noggin around: if the MAF scaling is off too high or low then the injectors can be scaled in the opposite direction to compensate, but then wouldn't the CalcLoad be off and in turn throw off the ignition timing? Sorry if this is a silly question, just trying to learn :)

And trust me, I'm not trying to say the readings are correct by any means. I could be at 220hp now and it's still so much fun I really don't care about the numbers, just trying to figure out the math and how the different values relate to each other.

*Mass airflow( and therefore load) at 425g/s looks way too high for the amount of boost and the whp.

Boost seems to top out at 10psi.

where da vidz at dough?

I have only posted the videos on page 3. Haven't had a chance to do any more yet.

it's cool man. I'm just being needy. Have fun with her

Still no official dyno but thought I'd share a little 9psi 2'nd gear summer fun :)

yomomspimp06 08-22-2013 01:16 PM

updates?
Video?

9krpmrx8 08-22-2013 01:37 PM

I don't want dyno numbers, I want 1/4 mile time slips :)

yomomspimp06 08-22-2013 02:20 PM

off topic- 9K what did you say your best time was? I think I remember something about mid 13s but I can't exactly remember what I read or where

9krpmrx8 08-22-2013 03:28 PM

I have never ran turboed, almost there though, just need to quit being lazy and install the S2 trans and clutch. Oh and now replace a leaking fuel line. But I should have everything squared away within a month. If I don't run mid 13's I will cry.

slash128 08-23-2013 12:06 AM

9k you must be psychic, I was at the drag strip last Friday night thinking it would fun to run it just to see. Was talking to Fazda about using it to run WOT logs. It's $20. I was there with my father in law watching his friend Lady Elaine that was racing an alcohol funny car. Ran a 6.85 @ 208mph if I recall. The fastest that night was a jet dragster, ran a 5.87 @ 271mph. Ya, I think we can run that

slash128 08-23-2013 08:52 AM

As for updates I don't have anything major. Car is running pretty good and I am just enjoying it for the summer and taking notes for things I want to do during the winter. It has been running richer as the weather here has warmed up, causing some misfiring at high load/rpm, but we can't go any further with tuning right now. My rear tires are just about bald :) Also, since I can't connect ATR to the live ECU I cannot log to my wideband, so I am limited to the stock wideband, which is bottoming out. So this winter I will get new tires/wheels and I am looking at going the Tactrix/ME route. Tactrix says I should be able to log the Prosport AFR.

FazdaRX_8 08-23-2013 11:53 AM

it would curtainly be nice to have this locally I would be interested in seeing ME in person and run the software. I too have been thinking about going that route in time.

Here is a log after reworking the tune with a stock MAF calibration, but trended out to 4V in the last 3 cells. It brought the calc load down to 190 vs 215. This will give me some headroom for additional boost. FWIW VD shows 347rwhp on this log, which is still in the same realm as what I was seeing before. Difference is now my g/s shows more real-world based on my intake being the same dimensions as stock. Still some work to be done but it's shaping up nice. Still getting some timing pulled, even with AFR at 10.8 (actual AFR is even lower according to my prosport, but OEM sensor is buried at its lower limit). I was hoping it might have been related to my VTA, but I guess not. I plan to be fully recirculated this winter, so yet to be fully determined.

The season is coming to a close. I have a nice list of things to work on this winter to keep me busy :)

Brettus 09-30-2013 02:29 PM

logs are looking real sweet . Must be feeling pretty quick now :)

Noticed calc load seems to be pegged at 189 . What is calc load table set to ?

slash128 09-30-2013 02:48 PM

Calc load limiter table still set to 200. On the 2'nd gear log I saw 190.51. Gives me some room to grow :)

Did it flat line at 190.51 in the same way as the log you posted does ?
A flat line like that indicates that is as far as it is going to go to me .
What is your calc. load IAT comp table set to ?

Here is the 2'nd gear log, same tune. It hit it a couple times. IAT and Baro comp tables are stock.

Brettus 09-30-2013 03:14 PM

Where is your IAT sensor ?

slash128 09-30-2013 03:22 PM

Still with the MAF, pre turbo because on the 06 ATR I can't calibrate the IAT sensor table  so I am stuck using the IAT built into the MAF. My only other option is a second MAF and hack up the wiring. Would the benefit be worth it?

Have not seen a flat line like that below 200 before . But I've not seen someone so close to max. loads run with IAT sensor in wrong place at low ambient temps before either.

I can't say for sure but I believe what is happening is a double whammy effect from having the IAT sensor pre turbo.

1/The low indicated temp is increasing your calc load erroneously.
2/The IAT calc load comp table is also lowering the max Calc load available.

So in short . At these loads and ambient temps your tune is being compromised significantly by not having the IAT sensor post turbo.

slash128 09-30-2013 03:44 PM

I will add this to my winter list as something to research. Now with ME, is it possible to calibrate a separate IAT sensor? My limitation is with the 2006 version of ATR. I do not have an IAT calibration table. Unless there is another IAT sensor that exactly matches the OEM sensor in calibration I am stuck using a second MAF to move it post turbo.

Thank you for the advice!
