Ptp?

So I've done some searching and such and didn't really find anything so I figured I'd ask around. Has anyone here purchased this kit? They're plugging the buhjeezus out of it at the local dealerships, they have little cards sitting at the parts counter saying how awesomely great and spectacular their kit is etc etc but their local rep around town (I'm in Austin) has taken a few hits here and there so I don't know of anyone who has purchased or plans on purchasing their kit, or if they've sold any to anybody on here. I noticed their car for sale so maybe there's trouble in ptp land or something

I don't think so, the kit is for sale and ready to ship for 5200 on their site. Personally, I think it's a nice setup.

HKS locked out EMU...Nuff said...I dont want to be locked into anything that forces me to go to them every time I need something checked. I can understand the idea behind preventing tinkering, however I certainly demand the option of taking my car for a second opinion or to a better tuner.

not many people are running this kit and one guy here was but he's selling it. For only a few grand more you can get the kickass Mazsport kit which is leaps and bounds better

I haven't heard anyone promising 4000 rwhp

The Mazsport has a better turbo, fuel system, engine management (previous poster already mentioned the HKS ECU is locked), and a lot of other better tidbits bundled better.
That's why it's better

I can't remember (someone posted about it a while ago) but I just checked and the PTP uses a Turbonetics T4 60 trim ball bearing. Mazsport only says a T4 turbo, no size listed

But I do know that the Mazsport kit is putting down more rwhp with the lowest effort of tuning (around 330+) than any PTP kit has (as of now, but with an upgraded fuel system on the PTP you could get close to the Mazsport kit, and another engine management option)

our kit made 350rwhp, which is prolly about equal to scott's kit with the dyno differences.

and the HKS ecu is an option, if someone wants to use the Interceptor X or Greddy Emanage... etc.... they can use whatever they want.

We sell the kit without ECU so those of you that want to tune there own cars can do so.

Yes its sold w/ HKS as optional but I would rather buy a "kit" which was proven w/ the interceptor or greedy e-mangle as a turn-key solution. It's not that I dont trust the HKS...I simply dont like being limited...

I would consider getting the PTP kit simply for the plumbing...Would you guys consider selling the plumbing w/o the turbo and other misc components?

Which I am sure if you did, you could at least have an outlet for the screw-it-yourself crowd...plumbing is always the hardest part of the kit...

We would have no problem selling the kits minus turbos

and if someone wants to have a turbo kit installed with an interceptor x or emanage then plz come forward and i'll tune it with our kit and i would have a map for turn-key solution :D

The PTP kit is $5,200 + $2,000 for Engine Management (HKS) = $7,200
The Mazsport Type 3 is $8,500 w/ Engine Management

so your looking at a difference of $1,300. The Mazsport kit also comes with their upgraded motor mounts, fuel system upgrade (costs ~$600 if you were to pay for it seperately) and larger injectors. These extras justify the difference IMO.

That being said, the PTP kit does look very nice and if they were local to me I'd probably have to seriously consider it over other kits.

Hence why I was interested in getting the plumbin and screwin-the-rest-myself. MM has alot of good info on what works and what doesnt. Theres also alot of "fixes" which were discovered in the greedy kit. I'm not after chasing the mythical 400HP mark. All I want is 100+ and I'll be happy.

Now if they offered a low cost kit @ ~$4k which incorporated all the greedy fixes and put out the same power or a little better but offered the ability to "grow" as your needs/budget dictated I am sure that they would probably be stealing greedy sales.

I mean...why pay $3200 for the greedy when you can pay $3.5-$4k and get a better entry-level system. I'd also bet that all the SC folks would probably sway towards that kit as well.

High HP is good, but I'd venture to say that 60% of the market simply wants a little more punch for an affordable price.

If the kit was designed to take up to 400HP then at least you have an upgrade path which would mean your entry-level customer base will come back to you for later down the line.

But what do I know...I do product and business development for the security and IT market...anyone want to talk about this offline??

if someone bundled the GReddy kit with an Int-X, upgraded fuel sys, and all the other fixes needed for one price, I would buy it. Hands down.
And if they included and upgraded/different turbo (like the Mazsport upgrade option...). The GReddy snail is just too small. But I'm not chasing 400-rwhp either, maybe 320-rwhp is the most I would want. But I know once I have over 300-rwhp for a couple months I'll be itching to turn the boost up....
But then again it wouldn't be too hard for me to just do that myself

I may be wrong, but the GReddy T618Z will accept the same bolt pattern as a GT25, 28, and 30.

I dont know the diameter of the piping of the kit, but you could easily pick up a new turbo and new intercooler, sell what came with the kit and end up cheaper. Of course you will have to fab a downpipe, get the Mazsport motor mounter and fuel upgrade.

Then again you are still cheaper. The only thing holding me back is the warranty and availability of aftermarket rotors and seals.

Sucks cause I just see the money sitting there and I hear my VW friend's blow off valves every day.

Haa I know...it always happens to me too...its a matter of your brain "adjusting" to the characteristics of the car...once your comfy w/ the juice it no longer gives you that giddy feeling inside...you know...fear+adrenaline+ego+love (the type you clean up with a mop and bucket)...then you crank it up a little more...get your fix...rinse...repeat...

It's an addiction...dont even get me started on hitting the track-pipe...

I'm eviltwinkie...I've been speed free for 3 hours...on scouts honor...haa haa

Anywho, this is ultimately why I think screw it yourself is a good thing especially if you have extra capacity to upgrade into. It's alot like selling crack...get em hooked (cheapest price)...let em come back for more for the premium...

no matter what there will always be people who figure thier own things out, but for the remaining 80% of the addicts...they will simply come back to you...they need thier fix now and are willing to pay for the convenience...

anything in life can be compared to crack...and THAT'S what's whack...

If you were to buy the piping and everything, what size turbo would you use.
the only reason im not a fan of the turbos for the RX-8 is because, your redline drops to like 7800 instead of taking it up to 9k, with a bigger turbo this wouldnt be a problem, would it
