Here is some more info from the link you posted. If they did have an RX-8 model this is only good on the Track when you can plan your recharge cycle.

http://boosthead.com/faq.php or http://www.boosthead.com/product.php?id=18

No RX-8 application

“Our patented ESC™ 350C is a high-performance supercharger powered by EXTRA BATTERIES instead of your engine's belt.”

“At the push of a button, an ultra-lightweight battery bank injects the drive system with 15-SECONDS BURSTS of pure energy”

“Think of these batteries as your Nitrous tanks”

“Even our system needs to be recharged, but in this respect, the universal, open-ended design allows for hundreds of ways to do so. It could be as simple as hooking up to a regular battery charger in your garage twice a week, or as futuristic as solar panels. We recommend upgrading to a high-output alternator like those that power competition audio systems. Use a SPDT arming switch to bypass the alternator under boost. With a 200-amp alternator, you'll fully recharge in 10-20 minutes while the ESC™ is off. So while you're waiting in the staging lanes or cruising along the strip, you can relax and hurl insults at the Nitrous guys while your system preps for another 15-second burst of sheer power.”

i was thinking more of a drag application. i like the idea of 15 second boost when and only when i want it.

They actually covered this in this month's Sport Compact Car. Interesting article about Superchargers & a section on the eletric SC. Interesting, but I would hope the recharge cycle would go down a bit with new generations. Unfortunately I would be a little too lead footed for this.

I would never buy anything from Thomas Knight...He's got a reputation in the Probe world for making dookie, then absolutely HORRIBLE customer service....

Customer: "I wanna buy a turbo"
Knight: "Sure thing! here it is w/ the instructions"

Customer installs exactly per instructions.

3 months later -
customer: "Dude - the turbo you sold me blew all it's seals...and all the welds on the pipes are leaking!"
Knight: "uh...no way, you must have installed it wrong!"

this goes back and forth a few times...before

Knight: "Uh..I never even SOLD a turbo system to you!"

yeah...
