Performance Chip

Hey guys. Im pretty new to posting these threads and you all seem to know what youre talking about so here is my question.

I drive a 2004 RX8 6-speed and I do understand that its not meant to be the quickest car but I am looking for a little bit more punch.

I am NOT interested in any type of forced induction, rather a performance enhancing chip.

If anyone has tried one out and is satisfied with their results let me know. Preferably if you could include horsepower and torque gains it would be great.

the only "chip" available for this car that will make any different is a tuning device known as the Cobb AccessPORT. Even then you're lucky to see 10 horses.

I hope you brought your flame suit, my friend. You're gonna need it.

The 'chips' have been deemed bogus. There are many users who swear by COBB AP w/ exhaust work for mild power increased.

Just to clarify this statement. The AccessPort reprograms the OEM ECU. You can send in your ECU to RacingBeat and they will reprogram it and send it back to you. Then there are piggyback ECU's that can be run along side your OEM ECU.

This question is asked often and a little searching would have provided you an answer. Also, this is not a topic for Major Horsepower Upgrades. Reprograming an ECU will only give you minor gains. I am closing this to prevent any other trolls from putting up ridiculing posts.

+1 to that.
If you do choose to go w/ a Cobb AP, there are a ton of other advantages.
Mainly, it can add longevity to your engine.
They are available from several places for $695. They come pre-loaded w/ a bunch of generic maps from Cobb.
Or you can get it from Mazdamaniac for the same price, and he will give you custom maps based on the way your car responds to the AP.

Unfortunately, if you're looking for HP/Torque gains, you're not going to get much w/o FI.
I know, I've done them all.
