Need some serious help

I've been saving up for a while, and I'm really interested in the Mazsport kit, which i have ordered, but it crossed my mind... why not swap in a 13b? I need some opinions... my head is hurting.
Do i stick w/ my original plan? or do i swap in an older motor???
The Renesis is young, and has potential, but the 13b is older, and proven. Any ideas??
What would you guys do???... Thanks, Jared.

modify original plan: stick with Reni engine, go elsewhere for turbo.

look into the greddy upgrade by Mazdamaniac.

No go for the 13b? why?
Will the renesis make more RWHP eventually?

how are you planning to handle the engine management for 13B-REW? stock rx-7 ECU or stand-alone? stock twin turbos or single turbo?

you don't mind loosing the creature comforts the Renesis ECU offers?

Ask yourself these questions and you should have the answer for your posted question. The only swap worth the hassle is a 20B , IMO.

You won't regret your decision to go with the Mazsport turbo, as long as you don't mind waiting 4-6 months after full payment.

4-6 months if you are lucky.....might wanna pm maxxdamigz because he has the only running mazsport in jersey let alone the north east....also might wanna consider driving your car legally in jersey you need to have an engine as old as your car or newer....anything older will have issues with inspection....also need to let us know your goals for hp and reliability.....mazsport will get you good numbers, a brew will get you better.....but how much do you need?

The car isn't my daily driver.
I wanted 380rwhp, but i realized i can make more w/ a 13b-rew.
I have already talked to maxxdamigz he was at JPR a while ago, I liked his car.
I just don't know if the Renesis is a better engine then the 13b-rew.
Why would i dump all this money into an engine that will put me at 380rwhp, when I can make 500rwhp out of a rew engine. Inspection is not an issue.
So basically the problem is do i stick with the Renesis?? It's a newer engine w/ potential, or do I put in an older engine, and be guaranteed HP??
This is the video that got me thinking engine swap:

Fox, I am in no way trying to insult your intelligence or experience but have you driven a 2900 lbs. 500 whp car before? I've seen and worked with a turbo charged RX8 making 300whp with huge 275/35 tires and it's still tough getting that power to the ground. Unless you're planning on always running racing slicks or r-compound tires I'd be worried.

Here's what you're up against just for reference. At about 400 whp you start busting the tranny...at 450whp+ your snapping axles and beyond that your destroying rear end suspension parts. Even if the 13b could put down 500whp you'd need a completly rebuilt rear end and a beefy transmission.

The end result, all things being equal, would be an RX8 with 500whp that does nothing but spin the tires anytime you get into the throttle.

I'd take a ride in a 350ish whp RX8 and decide for yourself before looking to swap in a 13b. Either way, you'll be hard pressed to find a 500whp 13b motor that's reliable.

Flash no offense taken, thanks for posting.
My buddy has a 466rwhp Rx7 that's pretty fast. I was in it yesterday, I really like the car but, i like my 8 better. what does 350-400rwhp translate to in the Rx8? is that a low 12 high 11 second car? i have experience w/ some decently fast cars, but the fastest rotary I've been in is that rx7. My rx8 has a greddy turbo now, but it's getting a mazsport kit installed, it's arriving at mazspot within a few hours, would you chose that over a 13b swap?

Flashwing is right: upwards of 400 whp = breaking a lot of parts.
as for 1/4 mile times, that's all up to the driver. It's hard to say what kind of time you'll get with 350 - 400 hp. Keep in mind, even a boosted 8 is not a great straight line car.

take a boosted 8 on some HPDE or Auto X and you'll really see what she's made of

The renesis is a better engine. Stick with what you've got, and the power mods are going to get better as the architecture ages.

400rwhp would be nice, is it achievable on pump gas?
And what's w/ the whole porting ordeal.
I read on Rotaryheads.com that it's a percentage increase (20-30%) if this is true, then why don't more people do it?

400 IS achievable on pump gas but you'll need a very healthy engine, a good FI system, a GREAT tuner, and lots of extra $$$
Look up Rotarygod's posts on porting. (advanced search function, search by user)

Well then I guess it's a good thing my car's down at Mazsport
I've been reading a lot of rotary god's posts, and i've made up my mind.
Scott is going to install my Type 3, and Dyno tune it.
Then next year, i will send my car back for a rebuild, and porting.
since the kit killed my pocket.

The turbo is already built, Scott just has to put it on and tune it.
He said November 1st it will be back.

^^^ that's what's wrong.

There are people on this forum who have waited a bit longer than that...

You'll get it back eventually, it'll drive amazingly as well. But just don't be surprised if it ends up taking a bit longerish.

Work can be cheap, fast, and good. You may pick two.

Then there is your answer....lol

Good to see you are finally getting this done and have Scott take care of it for you.

You will be more than happy with the end result

How will we get around this problem? would you replace the housings, and put in a lower compression rotor? but isn't that making the car similar to a 13b-rew? just wondering.
