Low Compression Rotors

Searched but couldn't find anything. Do they make them for the Renesis? If so, where to get them. Rebuilding motor

Thanks guys

I don't believe anyone offers these for the Renesis. Mazda is the only one that makes rotors. Everyone else only alters their original part.

What happened to your engine?

Im gonna really find out when the motor is taken apart. Right know the car sounds really weak and it runs like its on one rotor.

That's a lot for a street driven vehicle. And they do not lower compression as Lou asked.

Yeah, I'm actually looking for lower compression. Alex Lopez is the guy that is going to do the rebuild. He said he was gonna do 3mm seals and polish, etc. However, he mentioned low compression rotors, and I figured I'd find out if they make them. The guys is a boricua (Puerto Rican) and knows rotaries. I visited the shop and there were RXs everywhere. I'm just wondering why he would mention low compression rotors for the Renesis.

What kind of power are you looking to make?

The Renesis apex seals are supposed to be much stronger than the FD's. FD apex seals were good for 500hp and more...

My goal is to make sure the motor is strong enough so I dont have to through this again. I have the Greddy turbo, and plan on staying with it for now. Initially I'm looking to make 300 whp. Later later upgrade turbo. I just have to wait until my wife gets over this little bump on the road :

Figure out why your engine blew, as it's likely that the greddy kit will only hurt you with lower compression rotors. More boost isn't the answer, as it will taper off in the same way a low boost setup will, only start sooner.

The 300hp restriction isn't likely the fault of the turbo, but a fault of the exhaust ports which are the limiting factor in terms of airflow. With 10:1 and 13 psi you can get a decently safe 300whp, but you're better off sacrificing some AFR and timing to end up with something between 285 and 300 (i've seen what it takes for 300whp, and it's pretty lean and has a pretty high injector duty cycle, neither of which are good if you drive under conditions that already caused a blown motor). Until someone figures out how to increase the volume of the exhaust ports, we're stuck around 300whp, since the Renesis just can't flow well with boost above 7,000rpm. This may involve having to use various parts from previous rotaries, including lower compression rotors.

Thanks for the input epitrochoid, I'll find out exactly what happened as soon as my baby goes in for surgery. I know that I will be getting new injectors and I ordered a fuel pump as well. I have the interceptor already so I think I will be alright after the rebuild. I dynoed at 278 - 292 with the emanage. I would definitely be happy with that, so 300 whp isnt a must.

It sounds like you are just guessing that your motor is blown though. Have you actually done a compression check? If one of your leading coils burns out it will cause the car to be way down on power and feel like its running on only 1 rotor.

Maybe he read the interview with AMEMIYA-SAN by RXTuner. See page 15 of 18 in this PDF document discuss the 13B-REW rotors.

True, I just asked the rotary guy what he thought about the way my motor sounded.

I wouldn't get too excited about getting a new engine then. The coils on this car are known to burn out. There's also many other things it could be, fouled plugs for example.

LOL, you're right, in a twisted way I am getting excited, I mean who could get excited about spending $$$ like this right? I know that we had changed the plugs the night before so it may not be the plugs. I'll have them and the colis checked.

Yeah Carlos Lopez is well known. I've been getting that alot, but no it's actually Alex Lopez. If all goes as planned, my motor will be in his hands tomorrow.

Yeah bro, thats exactly what it sounds like. The engine will be out today, If they take it apart today, then I will be able to update as to the condition of it. I have the interceptor, basically an LT10, did you get your microtech from mazport?

Well it kinda sucks, you blow your engine because you messed up with the microtech and now you have Mazda pick up the tab, that's cheating and you seems proud of it?
I hope the dealer you brought it in read your post and denies your replacement.
