Knight Sports Supercharger

Here's some pics/info of Knight Sport's Supercharger. Wonder when it'll be available in the states?
Article here.

$5500 or so. I wonder what type of blower it is? I'm guessing centrifugal, but I can't tell for sure from the pics.

It's coming down to the wire on superchargers it seems. This one, Hymee's, Pettit's, Rotormaster's, AFE's, and I think I missed one. Competition is good though, keeps the prices down. :)

IZoomZoomI 10-09-2005 03:33 PM

Where's the blower?

rotarenvy 10-10-2005 05:16 AM

have a look at the radiator it's sloping the wrong way! looks like they are setting up for a V mount intercooler :)

RX8PDX 10-10-2005 08:30 AM

I like the front lip.

i believe its underneath the strut bar, with the silver part at the front of the engine compartment being the top of the intercooler.

Yeah I really like that front lip too. I think it might be the best one I've seen so far.

Japan8 10-10-2005 11:05 AM

If I remember correctly it is centrifugal.

You are correct on the intercooler placement.

The reverse direct radiator? Dunno... I think it might be their oil cooler (JDM cars only come with one).

Power output, etc? Haven't seen anything...

bgreene 10-10-2005 11:14 AM

I take it it's an electric drive supercharger?

If the blower's up under the strut bar I can't imagine how they'd get a drive belt to it.

BigOLundh 10-10-2005 11:50 AM

I am loving that body kit. What is it?

I'm would assume that the body kit would also be from the same company, but I don't know for sure. I will definitely watch our for it because is looks really, really nice.

smrx8 10-10-2005 01:50 PM

yep looks very goooooood

mike1324a 10-10-2005 02:19 PM

Not exactly the best place for the intercooler though. For those of you who have removed the stock intake box, there is only a small hole for air to pass into the box. I dont think its nearly enough air to be really effective.

the blower is belt driven it sits between the engine and intake next to the altinator.

they have moved the radiator so cold air should be able to reach the intercooler in a fairly direct path. it might not be ideal at the moment but I suspect we will see a much more efficient setup down the track.

I really like the way the 'sponsors' on the side of the door are ghost. It doesn't intrude on the colour nor lines of the car.

I didn't even notice them until you just said something. That kit is really nice though! Wonder if it will fit for those of us in the US.

twospoons_ 10-11-2005 05:46 PM

The front bumper is about $850. Then add $2000 in shipping :P

IZoomZoomI 10-11-2005 11:39 PM

where did you get those prices at?

I checked out their web site and did a yen conversion :) It's all japaneese, but I just clicked on links until I found the product.

if your regarding to the knight sports super charger well yeah thats pretty obvious, but guess what there is this service called 'importing' maybe the dictionary could run you by the definition of that service in case youre struggling

Rocketman1976 03-15-2008 09:47 AM

Whats a dictionary?

Moostafa29 03-15-2008 10:44 AM

Its what I use to keep my table from wobbling.

HiTMaNN 03-15-2008 11:56 AM

I think that application is only made for RHD cars and Specs (IE Jap model)

where the sc fits and where the pipes go will suit both LHD and RHD cars. only the engine management may need tweaking. in .au they are using the emanage to tune the kit so I don't see US tuners having much problem with that.

FDracer on the forums has it working well on a 4 port also. contact him for information.

euro vs. usa and jap

hey guys im not sure but i believe the euro specs are different compared to the usa and jap. the knight sports ecu works on both us and jap, not euro. I hope the supercharger works on the us. don't quote me
i believe the ecu's for both the jap and us are very close just the little tweaks cause of our F**K*** smog laws

A.Mair 03-25-2008 01:52 AM

hmmm id like to investigate a lil more

rob babicki 06-12-2021 08:51 AM

knight sports SC

any more info?
did they go into production ?

for someone that just wants a little more low end this seems cool

I've looked high and low for superchargers for the 8, never saw one for sale
(I opted for a Pettit racing with 12psi pulleys)

TeamRX8 06-25-2021 01:53 PM

pretty sure he opted to buy an equally junky baby turbo instead

rotary_junkie_be 06-25-2021 01:56 PM

Jeez... nice people around here!!

Jedi54 06-25-2021 02:03 PM

wow, quite the thread revival from Rob.

Rotary Junkie: no need to get offended, I believe Team was just referring to Rob posting a WTB thread for a greddy turbo. Anyone who is familiar with that system will agree it is a little baby turbo that runs out of air pretty quickly.
Let's try to keep this civil and on topic.

thanks guys

rotary_junkie_be 06-25-2021 02:06 PM

Sorry about the misunderstanding!

Quite right about the Greddy, though!

TeamRX8 06-25-2021 02:28 PM

There’s no problem Jedi, but in response:

Not at all, and I’m no different than yourself wrt speaking my mind when I’m so inclined to do so.

What exactly is the issue though? Because that pretty much summarizes both systems up fairly well. What did I really say other than summarizing that I was pretty sure he already posted publicly on the forum about buying the equally bad other option he was looking at?
.

rotary_junkie_be 06-25-2021 02:35 PM

Indeed, I didn't get the context, my mistake

No hard feelings, I hope
