just installed int-x. car won't crank

2004 gt with about 110k miles. I just installed the esmeril turbo kit. Mechanically it's done. I go to Instal the interceptor-x and attempt to start her up after a few months ( brand new battery) and no cranking. No clicking. nothing. You can here the starter relay from the engine bay that's it. I checked the main 120 amp fuse. All grounds are sat. The security light is blinking also. I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated. Obviously I can't take it to the dealer. Unless I'm wrong. Thanks for any help and input.

Moved to Major Horsepower Upgrades subforum.

Good luck, the Intercept-X is not liked around here, and you will get a lot of people telling you to get rid of it and get something that works.

The Interceptor-X is crap and so is the Esmeril kit so you are fighting an uphill battle. Your only bet is to read thru some of the old threads back when people had no choice but to use that and see if you find anything that helps.

TeamRX8 06-16-2014 07:02 PM

Did you try uninstalling it to see what happens?

firecran 06-16-2014 07:25 PM

Yeah it's crap :icon_no2: 400+hp and over 25k miles w/the interX in 3+years but yeah there are better choices.

Yeah on the REW powered toy you bought. We are talking Renesis here.

Yeah I tried and I guess it lost communication with the car. The ppm that is. After talking to the dealer, they informed me that they can " try to reset the pcm, but can't make any guarantees since it's modified." Nothing has been messed with electrically other than the bhr coils. But that was a year ago and ran fine. Who knows!

ShellDude 06-17-2014 07:29 AM

Oh gawd, don't go to the dealer. It'll end up even worse.

Simply try cranking with the intx disconnected. Even the highest AFRs won't hurt at idle / no boost.

Your first issue (once the intx is removed) will be one of airflow due to the wonky intake tube size esmeril used. To fix that you're going to need to rescale your maf table with an ecu map editor such as Cobb ATR or Epifan MEP.

TeamRX8 06-17-2014 12:18 PM

If it intiated the immobilizer protocol or the modules need to be reconfigured for whatever reason it will take a dealer or someone with the dealer diagnostic machine to get it straightened out

landsfeldrx8 06-18-2014 07:19 AM

Also to my knowledge won't the car fail to start anyway with the computer removed? Interceptor-x or the factory?

ShellDude 06-18-2014 07:34 AM

Leave the mazda ecu connected. Test with just it.

landsfeldrx8 06-18-2014 12:33 PM

It won't start with the factory ecm because of a communication error since it was disconnected. The ford dealer said they can try and rejoin the factory ecm to the car using a scan tool? Or something. I'm gonna get rid of the in int-x and get a Cobb instead. Once this is figured out.

ShellDude 06-18-2014 12:54 PM

Yeah I do not know the rules about what might invalidate the pairing between the ECU and immobilizer.

I will say I've seen new ECUs and previously disconnected ones reconnected without issue.

Perhaps trying to start the car or give it power (hook up the battery) in the former state plays a role.

Is an obd2 scan showing any codes or freeze frame data? I may have missed that detail.

landsfeldrx8 06-18-2014 06:18 PM

I haven't had an obd reader diagnose it. Would that be able to determine my issue?

dannobre 06-18-2014 09:44 PM

The IntX can be installed and removed with no issues to the immobilizer did it multiple times when I had it installed

Check the fuses in the drivers foot panel. If the OBD fuse is blown the immobilizer won't let the car start

landsfeldrx8 06-19-2014 05:20 AM

Thank you. I'll report back with my findings!

landsfeldrx8 06-20-2014 11:39 AM

Just another update.. more info rather. The fuel pump doesn't hum when you turn the key either. I don't know if that's under the immobilizer issue or not. I'm gonna have to buy or rent an old meter from somewhere this afternoon to find codes.

dannobre 06-20-2014 12:44 PM

If you jusmp the pump does it run? You should be able to hear it running

There isn't any code that will tell you you have no fuel pressure

landsfeldrx8 06-20-2014 04:04 PM

I hooked up the scanner to the obd port. It can't communicate with the car. Sooooo.. dealer time?

landsfeldrx8 06-21-2014 02:25 PM

It's going to the Ford dealer wednesday. Hopefully they can figure it out! I'll keep you guys posted.

landsfeldrx8 06-26-2014 08:15 AM

Okay so I had a bad connection from the intx to the battery. The butt connector near the fuse I installed did not have continuity. Okay that's fixed. She cranks over now but won't start. I noticed that while cranking, if I put my foot on the gas pedal, the motor doesn't slow down like it does. Do you think it's a bad pump? I can hear a very low buzz from the tank (I think) bit it's not as loud and it doesn't seem like fuel is getting to the injectors. I'm installing a new relay this afternoon to see if it is bad. If it doesn't work still, I'm gonna assume my pump is bad. Unless otherwise mentioned here. Ignition is new and installed well. And the battery is strong. Thanks guys for any and all input.

dannobre 06-26-2014 08:34 AM

If it won't start with the IntX disconnected it is something else. .. looks like you are on a good track to figuring it out
