We're trying to delay the throttle bodies using the factory intake manifold's solenoids, it's a pain in the arse!

Not really, it mostly depends on the tune.
We're experimenting with this ITB setup to see if we can get rid somehow of the intake that chokes the engine at high rpm (above stock levels) since this is the only way of getting some numbers from the 13b-msp.

I can't believe I never responded to this. While an ITB may work beautifully, this quote is an invalid reason to use them. The intake is not what is holding the Renesis back in terms of power. The factory ports can flow 300 hp n/a and the intake manifold and tb even more so that's not the issue. The real problem with the Renesis in terms of getting big power is the exhaust ports. The intake is fine. The exhaust ports are good for about 260 hp n/a give or take a few regardless of how the intake is designed or ported although I've heard that with efficiency gains inside the engine 280 is possible. That had nothing to do with the intake though.

I'd love to see ITB's. I think it would sound neat and the throttle response could be real nice. Of course the powerband won't be as wide as the factory manifold but depending on the intended application that may be a nonissue anyways.

Hey rgIt's nice seeing you here :)
I completely agree with you but, in my opinion, the engine is choked above 9000rpm. The stock pcm should handle 10.000rpm so we were trying to get rid of that high rpm choke in the aux ports basically. Then you know... you think one thing, you try another and we're slowing going on through this route, as an experiment. I love how smooth our stock intake is in terms of flow and power delivery but i really can't keep my hands in my pockets :)

I like ITB's. They sound awesome and look even better. They are very different in drivability which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just disagree that the stock intake is a restriction. It isn't. Regardless of rpm, unless you are topping 300 hp I don't see how it is hurting anything.

I will take your word for it then. I know that the power band won't be as broad as it is now but in the end who cares :)

And my reason for my set-up is because I have to put the s/c where the intake manifold is. But again, mine will be like the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R style where there is a plenuim attached to the ITB's. That is where my MAF goes. I am just re-routing the sytem and adding a TB for each lower intake manifold port where it attaches to the uim.

Unfortunatly mine is on hold until I finsh some RX7 projetcs. I will start mine again in march or april. I hope to have it done by ss next year...lol

Ok Thanks for your input. It was just something I was daydreaming about.

i know this post is nearly 10yrs old but has anyone done this yet using itbs of the existing manifold utilizing the oe primary secondaries 5th 6th etc?? It wouldn't be hard to 3d print an adaptor bt the sensors??

^^only the ones who learned the hard way …

that copied reply was in response to my comment back then, today I’d say it’s a way worse idea than I understood at that time

as per comment #102 several posts above, the OEM intake is not the issue …

Its dificult to discern between facts and feeling besides all the youtube experts promotin all kind of s#it that they do / "invent"...
