I now have 100 miles on the new engine - and can make some observations.

1 - 1 piece seals do have low RPM compression issues - my car is pulling more vacuum past 3000 rpms than it ever did (22inHG in cruise) - but below 1000 RPMS it is running 12-14inHG.... so you do have to up the idle.

2 - The BHR clutch is f-ing magic..... it is so light weight I need to learn to drive all over again; Ray needs to come visit me and educate me like he did Bobby in Hawaii!

3 - The ported motor is damn near impossible to keep out of boost - I mean that freakin turbo spools so quick it is ridiculous... I noticed it more since I was trying to stay out of boost.

Now that I can tune - (I just loaded my first map 5 minutes ago) - it is fixin' to be game on suckas!!!!

Oh and I will say the throttle response is about 20% better that it was; FI or not - lowering rotating mass has a huge benefit.

And lastly - fuel leaks are scary.

I have a feeling that Kane will soon have the second fastest Renny. You deserve it bro, and I'm looking forward to your proposed thread.

Be safe in the sand.

Kane, a christmas offer:

I'll be happy to take care of, and drive, your car for you while you're in the sandbox.

Aww, you are all heart!

Thanks guys; I'll be working on the new thread after christmas.

The first person to boost my car.... was my dad! HAHA, sucks being the tuner on your own car sometimes.

nice bro--nice. Merry Christmas!
We Pettit guys idle at 1100K --works well. We do it for a different reason of course. I am pulling 20 of vac on stock seals at idle and since i modded the oil bypasses and i really dont know why that happened (something you may want to consider--look at the thread) I am pulling 21 at 2K. Pull 19-20 at light interstate cruise.
Hint--do some oil analysis--some things may surprise you. You have a lot of work and money in the engine--uoa is cheap important knowledge. It made me change some things.

Motor mounts holding ok? Did you notice more "snap" and a better shifting?
I know its a lot added at once and it may be hard to differentiate from some other stuff but just wondering.

Kane,
i'm looking forward to seeing how the power curve is for this piece of art!
Since, as you say, it's craving for boost maybe you have a perfect wankel with low end power as well :p

Thanks man - yeah it is hard to say what all mods did what; but the mounts so far seem to be doing well; I can really feel the motor from the shifter - which I thought was tuned before - now it is really linear- part of that may be the clutch - but the whole package feels much tighter to the car.

Thanks - yeah 10 PSI at 2700 RPM's with no boost controller really surprised me - do you have any idea how hard it is to stay below 3K?!?!!? Crazy. I'll have to make a video so you all can see my "Turbo lag" - it will blow your mind.

Yeah I am on the GT3071R.

The difference is I had it on a stock motor and on this thing - and I can definitely feel there is a difference. It was always a fast spooler - but I could at least tell it was going to go into boost - now it does it damn near instantly - and before I know it I'm pushing positive PSI.... even at half throttle.

Why is my engine so healthy? you make me want to do a complete engine\turbo install and not just a turbo one

Will the turbo be adequate for you engine now? :p Since your hymee package has arrived you don't have to spend at home, go finish the break-in and tune this beast!

Hey it's Christmas! LOL; I'll get it done soon - I promise.

We will see how the MAF numbers and boost stack up; but I would think the turbo itself should do fine for the lower boost application I am intending.

more vacuum at higher rpms is just the centrifugal force acting on the apex seals?

Dang man 10psi at 2.7K----thats like supercharger territory !!!!!!! Sweet! Its a usable rpm level now and thats one reason i choose to drop have a 7.5K redline and use gearing for more performance rather than a higher redline. Centrifugal forces at 9K versus 7K is 1.7 times stronger and progressively harder on the drivetrain and produces a LOT more heat.
Very very nice dude!
Throttle response ---actually the stiff motor mounts may be part of that? I too was very surprised.

I know i am aggravating but seriously man--you have one hell of an engine---get the oil pressure up(oil flow) with Pauls kit and use a oil filter with a higher bypass.

King Kane, King Kane, King Kane says the crowd!
Smile off your face yet? Hell Im smiling just reading about it!

Yeah - I am pretty excited to see how this thing does once I break it in!

Where is the link to the oil pressure kit from Paul?

Ray what i meant to imply was that the turbo Kane has is spooling up pressure at a low rpm that is COMMONLY known as a characteristic of a supercharger --that is all.
i can get a 9lb boost at 3K and carry that boost to redline--but i dont want to start any contest of anything. Boost is boost.
Bearing protection is more of a proper strength oil film thing --than flow or pressure.
Read the long thread in the Tech section and you can maybe get a better idea of where I am coming from.
Hope you and yours had a merry Christmas man

I say we do it in another... once I get my tuning done then I'll start up one.

That would be a good convo.
