No mention as to when, or the most important question for us in CA...IS IT CARB APPROVED???

DreRX8 03-29-2005 09:27 PM

I saw that two--it had a signature HKS air intake, but it was the smallest blurb ever.

rotarygod 03-29-2005 10:04 PM

I seriously doubt it's carb approved. That approval process costs alot of money. It wouldn't be worth it. The best way to avoid it is to not live in California. ;)

Im_DANomite 03-29-2005 10:09 PM

but isn't HKS located in Cali? they HAVE to have it CA carb legal. plus, CA gets everything before everyone else.

rotarygod 03-29-2005 10:10 PM

They don't have to do anything. They can just sell it as an "off road use only" product. The buyers uses it at their own risk.

gotcha. guess you guys gotta move outta CA :D

Razz1 03-29-2005 10:15 PM

Or buy RP's Super Charger.

It will pass the test even with out a Cert.

rotarygod 03-29-2005 10:28 PM

It won't pass a visual test in California. Here in Texas (a part of that state that does test), they just plug into the OBDII port under the dash. If they see no codes, you pass. Simple enough. No visual inspection or anything.

dazygirl415 03-29-2005 10:30 PM

^^^ Does that mean we're good to go in TX? :D:D

rotarygod 03-29-2005 10:33 PM

If you are in a county that doesn't have emissions then definitely. If you are in one that does, as long as you don't throw an CEL's, you're good to go.

mikeb 03-29-2005 10:58 PM

anyone got a pic or hp numbers?

Hybrid-RX8 03-30-2005 07:02 AM

It's not coming soon guys...it was only in prototype stage @ Tokyo Auto Salon...... at least a year if not more..

takahashi 03-30-2005 07:36 AM

Prototype in Tokyo AC is the supercharger... where did you get the tubro kit from?

Is there another RX- 8 from HKS that I missed?

DreRX8 03-30-2005 08:18 AM

SCC states it as a turbo--I need to get out a magnifying glass to see if I can see the engine internals.

I know.....It is very true when ppl say that SCC shows no rotary love....

takahashi 03-30-2005 05:00 PM

I heard and read Japanese magazine that blue car was a supercharged RX-8. Anyway, no further info yet so we just have to wait until they announce anything lor. :)

Nemesis8 04-04-2005 11:20 AM

Whatever happened to that Red RX8 down under that was turbo charged???

takahashi 04-04-2005 04:23 PM

No idea.

Never since and heard the things since Sydney motor show :D

Cam 04-04-2005 04:24 PM

I dont remember where I remember hearing this, but I think they blew the engine in that car.

Im not positive on that though.

Nemesis8 04-04-2005 04:45 PM

They must have gone over 13 PSI if it did...

I'm with Takahashi on this one. I think SCC got it WRONG. I also read in Option magazine, a jdm tuner mag, that the blue car shown from the Tokyo Auto Salon (same car shown in SCC mag) had the new HKS Supercharger.

takahashi 04-05-2005 06:09 PM

Well thanks Hachi.

The HKS is advertising their new supercharger (centrifuge type or something?!). There are many models of car had one put on. The 3 series BMW won a prize too!

No data on the Supercharger on the RX-8 yet. I have not even seen the data on the Z yet?!
