greddy turbo kit. Will require a few fixes out of the box but you can get them for around $3K new and $4K used with Mazdamaniac's upgrades (still without boost controller or gauges)

for 6k you can try to find a used greddy kit, upgrade the components and you'll have a bad *** ride. for a 3 rotor swap, 15k is barely enough for just parts alone, nevermind labor.

I'm at $4,166 for my turbo setup, including a GReddy kit with the manifold, downpipe, turbo, front mounted intercooler, cold side piping, blow-off valve, new couplers, new oil feed/return lines, a new boost gauge, new air/fuel ratio wideband gauge, electronic boost controller, Intercepter-X EMS, new 650cc fuel injectors for the P2's, manifold wrap, all clamps, hoses, vacuum lines and caps, tees, and even zip ties (I keep ALL my receipts!).

Just because you spent nearly $6k on a barebones and I've spent just over $4k on a complete setup doesn't mean it's the only way to go.

Add another $1600 or so and I'll be at $5,766 making a metric crap-ton of rear-wheel horsepower.

get a set of REALLY light weight wheels, with some sticky, sticky tires.

Then spend the remaining on some track days, and have fun

Hey, that's my line

That's a nice price for all that stuff. Did you buy alot of the components used?

OP- 6k for a turbo is definitely doable, but you need to do alot more research... The other point is that once you have turbo you will have to spend more money for maintenance, and you will want to put in more and more mods...

Most of the major parts were used, but all the small stuff (misc hoses, clamps, pieces, gauges, filters, etc) were new. If you know how to shop you can do a turbo on a pretty good budget. My advise would be to estimate high for how much extra you'll need in misc crap, like hoses, vacuum caps, silicone lines, extra tools, misc fittings, etc. Then double your estimate. And save more money.

There isn't any extra maintenance with the turbo. Once it's in it's pretty much in, and unless the bearings go bad, the only other cost is changing the oil (which you do to the N/A car anyways).

Esmeril is indeed a great setup, but it's out of the OPs price range. 6k would only cover the kit w/o management, gauges, install, tune...

I think this is a good product. All the othe kits available are either more money or simply not worth the money...... Research my friend....
There is probably no kit out there that includes install, gauges, boost controllers, tunning, etc..... So it really doesnt matter what you get you need all of those.

And by couple of friends experience... Greddy Kit sucks.... ( i wouldnt know, I havent had it)

^ just making sure the OP realizes that the price of the kit itself is not the only thing he has to take into account. since his cap is at 6k the esmeril kit is over his limit..

Fxgandara - for the price you're looking to spend pretty much your only option is a greddy kit (or a used greddy with MM's upgrade), or nitrous...
