The site doesn't really have any details... care to fill us in?

Do you plan on upgrading the fuel system w/ the turbo upgrade?

I'm curious to see if anyone in North America has pursued just changing injectors without upgrading other elements of their fuel system... I know RX8PR completely upgraded the fuel system with a custom fuel rail and all..but was that necessary?

Just curious, did the builder give you a CFM flowrate number? What is the cost to do this upgrade? thanks, Scott

$1100 for an 'upgraded turbo'...wow.

This is for all you RX8 guys that have the Greddy turbo kit and want more kick.

This includes a new center section and compressor cover. All you have to do is unbolt the stock one from the turbine housing and install this one.

yea, it was a complete rebuild on mine, the oil seal and bearings went on the old one. i have the cfm, will post in next day or so, just not with me right now and don't remember exactly. manifold is in and bolted, turbo is in and bolted to the manifold. It has a huge discharge so hopefully the engine mount will fit, not to that stage yet but they have done this on one other 8 so should be cool. not planning on really running that much more boost at this point until i can at least save up for the interceptor (this spent my interceptor money) cause I do not trust the emanage so now fuel upgrades for a while. They recommended an intercooler upgrade soon though, so I will have to look into that soon. Hopefully will have some pictures on here tomorrow. they supposedly used the same housing and the turbo should be close to the greddy one in housing size, but guys it was tight, seemed tighter than when i put the greddy one in! but it fits so far. keep ya posted.

For $1100, it better be a big difference.

well, i had oil coming into the exhaust cause the greddy oil seal and bearings went so after the 8 sitting for almost two months and of course two payments, greddy not backing their product I decided to get away from them at any cost! So at this point, any change ie., the car actually runs without losing oil into the exhaust is a BIG step forward! lol

Anyways, was trying to put on the oil drain line snorkel tonight (the silver pipe that connects the black hose to the turbo on the oil drain) and the gasket that originally came with the greddy kit broke Anyone know where to get a new gasket or am I stuck buying a oil drain kit with new hose and gasket. I really do not think that "make a gasket" stuff will work cause it would be smeared all over everywhere just trying to get it on there. Its tight around that manifold and turbo.

Let me know, if it was not for little problems, i would be reporting on how the new turbo feels by now. Thanks

Right now now you can get a greddy turbo kit for 2700 from cityspeed complete.Installation cost from 1000 to 1200 around here in NJ the kit can get you about 280rwh I believe around 14 pound of boost and anything above that you would have to upgrade the turbo.

and with the greddy you really need to find better fuel control instead of the emanage if you are going to go very far in the boost and some 8s even running stock boost has trouble with the emanage from time to time.

going back to try to complete the install now.

More realistic is 240 whp & 6-7 psi out of the box with tuned EManage. You can get to 280 whp, and more pounds of boost, but that would incorporate you buying a good boost controller & better fuel management system. Much more $$$.

i feel like a broken record! Still not finished. It is supposed to be a direct bolt on BUT a couple of things are a little sticky. my 8 is only the second one with this upgrade and I have no idea who the first was (I wish i did) so I guess for once I am charting a little new ground. Ain't it fun? haha.

The oil drain line is much tighter getting in but that is done now. The acutator and the 3" inlet are the problems i am trying to work around now. Acutator bracket is pretty big on this one so the bracket hits the side of the fender well and the acutator itself hits a big bolt head in the frame. So the fender well problem is no biggie, I shaved down the bracket with the dremel. The bolt head, not sure yet. It may be okay resting there but it prevents me from getting the second bolt in the bracket so i would really rather figure it out. the only two solutions I see is a different bracket all together that would pull the acutator closer to the turbo and away from the bolt or shave about half of the bolt head off.

Second problem, the three inch inlet is so close to the greddy manifold that you can not get the silicone coupling on there with out it actually touching the manifold. Tried heat wrap in between the manifold and the coupling but there is not enough room for both. I am not sure what to do about that, thought about maybe shaving the manifold a little, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch but not sure if that will damage the manifold.

i will be on the phone with them tomorrow. Everything else is going great, haha!

I got a chance to drive one yesterday, boost was at about 6lbs I believe. Very nice!!

Could really feel the difference and seems like it would be a good daily driver as well. This sure seems to add that torque we are missing. Smooth throttle response but when I lightly tipped the pedal it would snap your head

I will consider one down the road when all the bugs have been worked out.

ZoomZoom8, did you ever get the flow rate for this upgraded turbo vs. the stock GReddy unit?
