Moostafa, didn't you get the upgrade? Does this mean that you will be waiting LONGER for your turbo? damn, I hope not.

Yeah, originally I was told a week max. That was the end of August. I'm not exactly mr. patient, but I don't have a choice right now. During this time I've been able to do some thinking, and if I hear of other options that will fit with the GReddy kit, and in that small area, I might go that route...if mine has not been completed by then. So if anyone knows of a way to adapt a better turbo to the kit, versus upgrading the current one, please let me know. Thanks.

a gt30r has been rumoured to fit...that'd be great turbo on this car too

ill probably go that route, as they can be had for about $1500 new..we'll see how much the upgraded turbine is going to cost

That might be a good route. Anyone know how I can find out if it fits without buying one first. In other words, someone else hurry up and be the guinea pig :D

I believe the guy with the cracked greddy manifold had plans to source a different turbo that would fit in the space. Check his thread if you haven't already.

the problem with the gt30r is not it's overall size, but the diameter of the compressor inlet. you can't get a 4" pipe down there around the engine mount without some serious work. you can get the turbo with different sized inlets I think, but you're kinda constrained to whatever the T618Z is (2.5" right?)

Thanks Robin, yeah I check it out. I man contact the people at innovative and see what they can do, and what other options they have. $1800 is a little steep though, but we'll see.

any DSM turbo that's inside the TD06 housing should fit

just get one from SBR or similar, with a more efficient compressor and better ball bearings.

The GT30R will fit down below. I know this because I have one mounted there on a custom manifold. The largest intake pipe that will fit is 3" but you will have to make a custom engine mount. I have a custom mount that uses all the stock locations. This is a complete custom kit and I am having PTP install and tune with an FCON. The kit was made by another fabricator.

Will do hopefully this weekend, really did not want to get thread started until after tuning is complete. Should have some tuning done with the Fcon by Friday and then will update the community with results and pictures of the turbo down below.

did you paint the IC black as well? I know there's special paint for that, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Is that black coating insulating? I wrapped mine in Thermotec, but it looks a little ghetto. I like the way that looks! Almost like a powder coat.

Yea, it was dirty. The IC pipes were powder coated black but did not paint the intercooler.

I am getting a custom built turbo but it has a three inch compressor pipe and a two inch discharge. In your opinion will I need a modified engine mount, if so can you post a pic of yours and where ya got it?
Thanks

Depending on the size of the turbo most likely you will need to modify the mount. The intercooler pipe can run over the top of the mount but a 3" pipe and the exhaust manifold pipe will not fit in the space the header currently fits in and that is why mine had to be modified. I will post a pic of it this weekend and try to get a price on it.
