Fuel Rail wont seat?
After replaceing the P2 injectors i have been having the problem of getting the fuel rail to seat on the top of hte injectors again. Everything will go together as it should. I pressureize the system and all lookes good no leaks anywhere. Once its all back together, after a couple of days of driving, i smell fuel and there is a fuel leak from the rubber gasket/groumet where the injector meets the rail.
The first time this happened recently was about a week ago. I replaced all the rubber o rings and seals where all four injectors meet the rail since one was leaking from a cracked rubber seal. After putting it back together, all went well for a couple days till now. when i get a leak from the same locatioon on the front secondary injector.
When putting the fuel rail in, it seems that when you tighten the two bolts holding it down, that it does not put nearly enough pressuere on the injectors holding them in. Is there something i am missing here, is there a trick that someone knows to get them to seal up, or is it jsut that touchy to get them to seal up correctly against the rail? Thanks in advance guys.

i used new orings, vasoline on all of them, and took the rail and pushed down on it a few time to feel all the injectors seat before i bolted it down. I have had it off 3 time and 2 different sets of injectors in with no problems *knocks on wood*. Unless its something in the fuel rail itself out of wack being its in the same spot. I do have a extra here if you need it cheap.

I will take it aprat tonight and vasaline them. I do not think that the rail is the issue but i will look it over and make sure its all good. I will keep that other rail in mind though if i notice anything strange about my rail.
Did you guys vasaline just the little o ring at the top or the o ring and "Groumet" that also seats into the rail?

Yeah i have heard of using vasoline on them. I will give it a go this time. Just seems like there is not enough pressure on the rail holding it down on the injectors. We will see i suppose. Hopefully this is hte last time i need to do this lol

Check all your O-rings for flat spots(from being rolled) and for cracks/tears. They can be hard to spot unless you look closely and if you have a bad one takign it apart and putting it back together wont help

Went and re worked the injecctors tonight, the one that had the leak had a slice hanging off the o-ring. Not sure when that happend. Obviously on the install cuz it was a new o-ring. I replaced the o ring and reinstalled them all. Used vasoline. Went and drove the car for close to an hour after the install. I dont smell fuel from the injectors, but i noticed on the injector that was leaking, it is wet around where the groumet meets the rail. I am thinking its jsut the vasoline melting and running. I finagled my fingers down to it where i could touch the groumet, smelled my finger tip and it did not smell like gas. I will keep an eye on it and see what comes of it. Really hope its not gas.

That makes me feel better for now at least. Its not as if the "shiny" part of the injector is gettign bigger, but its wet aroudn the groumet then run down the back of the injector to wher the plug is then stops at the plug. the rest of the injecter is still dusty and dry.

Funny you should mention time lol. i timed myself, it took me and hour and a half also. I was curious cuz i had gotten pretty quick at taking all the intake off and gettign to the injectors. I will have to time me down to the minute if there is a next time... hope not ..
