Nice pic :)

TeamRX8 04-10-2011 08:32 PM

meh .... less pics, more results ....

FazdaRX_8 04-10-2011 09:16 PM

I would love to provide more results but Mazdamaniac is not tuning til the 19th. I did submit datalogs via email, but I haven't gotten reply like before, I believe he is just going to wait til the 19th for everything

that funny noise from what I gather is air going into the intake, around the rotors?(cold motor) and out the exhaust.

I adjusted my preload and got more boost, so its about 8psi now, I wanna keep it this low until I get more tuning done, Advised by Jeff. regardless if I go into boost my afr's max out at 10.88. according to my wastegate settings it at 10psi, and sense my signal is before the intercooler that makes sense

the system I think starts to spool at 4ish and get full boost at 5ish. it pulls strong. vacuum at idle is still good at 18-20in/hg

no overheating problems what so ever, coolent temps are same as stock boosting or not, charge pipes aren't hot either.

I would like to add a turbo support bracket

I also have a small leak on the wastegate recirculated part, IE not on pressure side just got to seal it up.

I am really hoping that I will get the tuning done on the 19th, wish it was sooner!!!!

So it looks like my center exhaust is leaking a bit, I may have tourqed it wrong, can I re tourqe it, or do I need a new gasket?

Torque it down more.
It's can take one more ft/lb

is your setup installed wcs?

Its pretty tight now

Not yet.
And it's not nearly as pretty as yours.
Next winter I will rip it all a part again and get it fab'd up all pretty like.

I'm missing a radiator and I don't have what I would call an acceptable downpipe to midpipe connection however it's functional.

Other than that I need an oil container for the Sohn and a Oil Catch can.

Making sure and/or finding the correct Oil Restrictor has been the hardest thing, I'll use the one that came with the kit but I'm 100% sure it's too big.

So those are the only things I'm missing.

Everything else is installed or in some state of being installed, except the battery relocation kit which is sitting on my workbench.

The last 20% of the install has been the hardest.

I have her running and I am on 4.01 tune from mm, just wanted to ask a few questions

I am strictly using the waste-gate as my boost controller so it might explain some stuff. I have set up my waste gate for A & D, I can hear the turbo spool at 3800 rpms but full boost really doesn't happen til 7k to 8k @10-11psi where it really kicks, it seems as rpms build the boost builds.
but I don't get the, what I thought was common, 4-5k full boost to 8k-9k.
is this because I don't use an EBC?

My boost signal is right after the turbo. and at those settings I should be seeing 13.5 psi, perhaps the intercooler dropping 2psi?

I will say that I don't do WOT and that can be my issue too, I don't because the tune is 10.9afrs after 4200 rpms. and 10.9 is the limit of the stock 02

so does this sounds right?

the car is acting much better now that I have the manifold leaks fixed, the boost feels great, I just want to make sure everything is right so I don't have a tune on a faulty setup

oh and when I changed the springs and inserted the smaller seat, I noticed that the wastegate doesn't seal the exhaust gases 100%, is that normal? I can take a flash light to it and see a little bit of light

all exhaust leaks sound and seem fixed

No.

FazdaRX_8 04-26-2011 01:58 PM

Is this what is causing the other issues then?

RotaryMachineRx 04-26-2011 03:41 PM

You won't hit full boost unless your WOT though either.... unless under tremendous load

Not necessarily. Depends on several factors in the turbo sizing. I'm running a fairly large turbo now and I can get full boost at part throttle in some RPM and load ranges.

Possibly.

FazdaRX_8 04-26-2011 08:56 PM

I sent an email to synapsis support, so I am hoping to get a reply back tomorrow.

perhaps after a few heat up and cool downs it might seat?

I was reading some where that wastegates by themselves slowly open as the boost builds, but with an EBC you can make it so it only opens once desired boost is achieved. resulting in quicker spool up

is that correct?

Jamaalsmith 05-01-2011 04:58 AM

I think thats something like wastegate cracking pressure...im not terribly well versed on the subject either, but you know how i feel about boost controllers...

When do you expect to have the kinks worked out of the system?

do you have the copper ring in the connection of the wastegate? also when i put the seat in I put anti seize on it all and have had no issues.

I also see 6psi (full boost on the WG no ebc) at less than half throttle i think in mid 40%.

Yes you are correct on the boost controller. Mine is allat 0% right now resulting like its not there. I will be finishing up tuning with the controller soon.

FazdaRX_8 05-01-2011 10:31 AM

I have the copper ring in,the exahust system is sealed from the out side.
the valve on the inside that opens and closes. Its normally closed. When I was messing with it to see when it opened and saw how preload worked, and changed springs and such, thats when I notice that the valve didnt fully seat closed its a hair line opening, thats what I was talking about.

Maybe when the car heats up it seats?
Car feel really good after it really warm

When I was at 5 psi I could do that at partial throttle and get full boost too.
I think everything is fine, I think I am just being hyper observant.

May 3 is only 2 days away

callan 05-03-2011 07:13 PM

Great job!

Stoked to see what you end up with after a tune!

09Factor 05-04-2011 11:22 AM

Well, it's May 4th.

yes I got more tunning done, I have 4.03, car pulls smooth and hard!!!!

You submitted v4.0.2 at 4:29pm and were given notice that you would receive your v4.0.3 in 90 minutes.
The update was posted at 5:24pm. I'd say that was a bit less than 90 minutes. My computer crashing had no effect on your submission. I was "down" for less than 7 minutes. You signed back in at 6:27pm to download your files.

However, it does illuminate a point that I'd like to bring up (and will mention in the other thread) that I believe it is somewhat presumptuous to come in at 6:49pm - when the session is over at 7:00pm - and expect another calibration. Don't you think?

FazdaRX_8 05-04-2011 04:55 PM

Presumptuous is a strong word. I was hopeful, as I have seen you do a tune in 2 minutes!

I didnt intead to upset you about times, I am sorry.
