if you have 4k, you aren't even in the ballpark for a 20b.

Let me list the options within your price range:
Swap RENESIS for RENESIS

Not real smooth and un-assuming are we? Smells Troll-y in here.

4K is about 2/3 of the price you need for a low end turbo - never mind a motor.

no, you are a troll.

A BASIC search and common sense is with any kind of major modification like this shows you are going to be getting in WAY over your head if you think 4 or 5k is enough to do a complex swap such as the 20B.

if a 20b swap was that cheap, you would see a lot more 8's with it...read up more your looking in the 20k ballpark start to finish.

let me explain to the OP why he finds himself in the middle of flameville:

1. You don't know how to spell
2. Your grammar is equal to a retarded tree frog
3. You've read just enough to figure out that a 20b swap is something that people like
4. You have not read enough to figure out what it would cost
5. You made a post in hopes of getting lots of people to stroke your e-peen but instead found your e-peen cut off at the stump.
6. The civic forums are that way --------------------->

Falken enters with the benefit of the doubt again

So, you want a new engine, here's what you're looking at.

-Firstly, you need the engine. That will be 4k for a good C code longblock. 20Bs came in 4 codes, you really want a C or D code. $4000

-Secondly, you can't just use that 20B as is, you need to rebuild it. It probably has 50k+ miles on it. A good rebuild can be 2k or 1k if you do it yourself. $6000

-Thirdly, you decide if you want to keep the sequential twin turbos on the 20B itself, which you probably don't if you want more than 350whp or so. A single turbo setup done correctly will be 5k at minimum. $11,000

-Fourth, the engine must be configured for your application. That means porting, balancing, and clearencing, which is going to be 3k. $14,000

-Fifth, you need a standalone ECU, which START at 2k. $16,000

-Sixth, find a new transmission, the RX-8s will snap in two. A built T-78 runs 3k minimum and goes up from there. $19,000

-Seventh, you need someone to put the engine in the car. The steering rack has to be fucked with, firewall, axle clearence...labor alone will be 10k minimum, for someone who knows how to do it and knows what their doing. $29,000

-Eighth, someone needs to fab up custom manifolds for you, and god only knows how expensive those are. $GOD ONLY KNOWS

You get the idea. It adds up quickly. And that's the basics, I haven't even factored in the special stuff, Lightened rotors $3,000, Apex seals carbon or ceramic $1,000-$3,000, competition FD bearings $500, aftermarket eccentric shaft (<<<<important) $3,700.

The reason people are flaming you is because you said you wanted to do it for 6 grand, which says to people that you don't know what you're getting yourself into. So, we're laughing at you. A 20B swap is the most involved, complicated swap that has been performed on this car to my knowledge, it's not really something for "noobies" to be looking into.

Now, of course, if you really have a dick that ejaculates money like you say, I'm sure you can pay $GOD ONLY KNOWS. If you can, contact Defined Autoworks, they're the best in the business, bar none.

for that kind of money your looking more like doing a turbo kit for the Renny motor, not a swap

First off... you dont know the costs. If you're limited to about 4k for the motor, then you simply cant afford to do the swap. Either that or you have it all priced out and the only way you can make it work is if you only spend 4k on the motor... in that case, dont bother. Where did you find that engine? What condition is it in? How much will it cost to have shipped and imported? You shouldnt be "beating" cars on the street unless you mean by seeing who's car compensates more for "lacking areas". Chances are that the tranny you get wont be strong enough for what you'll want out of it... meaning you'll probably need to get it separately. You're better off getting a turbo.

The only reason I would say you should swap engines is if you have a blown motor or actually understand and can afford to do a proper swap.

BTW, we have a 13B in the car... it's just one of the variations. Depending on which 13B you're asking about, it might be better, but it might not.

You obviously do not understand what you're getting yourself into if you can't take the time to look up what results people have had doing various swaps. Come back once you've done a bit more research and have actual questions about each option.
