Drd8's RX8 Turbo Project
2 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, I am just posting my turbo project. The kit is a custom built top mount on 6 port motor.
T66 turbo 2.5 into 3" intercooler piping 44mm wastegate p1 yellows, p2 and secondary uncapped yellow injectors D585 coils MSD 8.5mm coil wires BUR9EQP plugs (leading and trailing) Goopy Apex seals ACT Heavy duty clutch kit Full 3" exhaust 28x9x4" Intercoler 255lph Walbro fuel pump Custom log type turbo manifold The car was tuned by Brettus using MazdaEdit Personal. Dynoed 303hp on 12psi. It has been running fine for the past 8 months ( 20000km ). Currently on 17psi and should dyno again soon. Only changes made are more boost and smaller turbine housing (.84AR T4 to .70AR T3 )....smaller turbine kicks in sooner and is alot more fun on the streets. Dyno video link below: |
nice
That setup looks laggy |
Great results! Especially for a low boost setting.
Thanks....it was a bit laggy until i changed from the T4 to the T3 turbine....now i can achieve full boost at 4500rpms.....which is much more fun than before. That dyno was done with the T4 turbine.
Nice. Where is this Dyno located?
Well I am from Trinidad W.I. ....so it's located in Point Lisas.
car sounds super quick

Nice, I know Steve Kan (www.kantuning.com) is in Trinidad tuning all the time, you should get in on one of his tuning days there. |
Yes..he comes here often..and I know he's good..but I am really satisfied with my current tuner. I have not had any major issues so I am kool.
Yeah, just a recommendation since on site tuning is always better.
Yea I understand what you are saying....I will keep the suggestion in mind.
Thanks for posting this ...... I'm sure you will make a lot more power on your next dyno just going by the logs .
300 for your first dyno was pretty impressive though - very rare achievement . Good effort :) |
how close were the logs to the dyno brett?

ekkk can't wait for results. I'm curious Brett. How close to the MAF ceiling are the closest logs? Just so I get this right. He's running 17psi on Pump?

I'll let drd answer that last question . |

I'll let drd answer that last question . You meant the question on fuel? |
Yup I am running pump fuel (95 RON) to be exact...and Brettus is correct. ..I did machine the MAF tube as much as I could to give me a little more headway...now I think I could hit 18 or 19psi before it is maxed..."hopefully".
oh this sounds so promising. Nice to see you getting this done on pump although slightly higher grade than available around these parts.
Just to clarify...95 RON is equivalent to 91 Octane in the USA...and...at first I was a bit concerned about the fuel myself....but "so far all is good" so I kinda got more relaxed about it over time.
Any updates on this?
Not as yet....have not had a chance to revisit the dyno as yet
okay. Well, keep us updated
