Rotr8 - S/C Renny in the RX3 wagon :)
|
no longer have the Wagon, sold it once I got it running right. Never really drove it all that much, so I decided to let it go
|
JFYI there are MANY little tricks that can be done to make this sc option work better.
1- hint--look at the air intake tube to the SC... 2- Look at the TB 3- look at the a/w intercooler set up 4- look at the lim 5-look at the fuel rail 6- look hard at ignition--all aspects of it 7- look at engine bay heat ( dont do any exhaust wrap!) 8- look at belt tension and % of belt wrap on the pulley Thats enough to keep you thinking for a little while:) |
|
went to fill up fluids and oops! oil on the floor and coolant leaking. both due to bad hoses that I didn't check. But then the rad fill nipple busted off while replacing hoses so there's a BHR rad on the way. (Thanks Ray!)

Good to see you wrenching some more...or are you letting Easy do all the work?
:) |
easy works??
|
LOL....
Guess that's where Easy came from....always thought that it was the other ;) |
lol I was hoping he was gonna sale that SC'er.
awesome builds though |
yeah a bunch of people have asked to purchase the sc kit. but sorry boys, it's in use. ;)
|
you reversed the flow ow water to the air water intercooler? The fitting on the tank appears to be connected to the bottom part of the intercooler? Does that work better?
|
^ haha i haven't tested which way that pump flows and forgot so it could just be backwards.
i forgot that you have the exact same one. is the upper or lower the intake to the pump? |

i have the pump outlet going to the lower part of the a/w intercooler and the return to the storage tank coming from the top pipe. It would work either way. The pump will not pump through the tank though:) --make sure you keep prime on the pump--mount it low. These magnetic drive pumps do not draw worth a damn--they pump ok though.
|
I vote a bigger filter too

cut the top half off the front support bar--then you have much more room.
I cant remember what the inlet/outlet side of the pump is. mine is mounted in the space between the drivers side oil cooler and the plastic stuff. |
I have a long K&N that tapers to a smaller Diameter

pretty sure its this one
Manufacturer: K&N Part Number: RU-3130 its 3.5 inlet and over 9" long no cutting, because its a cone it matches the area in there, as the space tapers down on the sides |
thanks, I'll have a look.
|
actually that one is 7", this one is 9"
RE-0920 - K&N Universal Air Filters, Universal Rubber Filter direct from K&N which did you choose? |

About time you finnished with Easy. You had him so long that he has forgotten that he does not need winter clothes in July.
He needs to look to see if my problem is that little electrical problem that you had. I won't keep him long so if you need him after your return from Japan, he should be thawed out by then. |
Man.... o Man. Baller with two FI rx8s. I dont think my second 8 will ever see FI. One is enough for me. Many props sir.

I think Erick found my idle problem but I can't be sure cuz he won't let me drive it yet :hahano:. Almost two years of idle problems and it comes down to a broken wire. |

Oh wait. I QUIT! I'll come and service your car and then you can be introduced to BHR's remote site rates. :bootyshak

Not sure why you would not......cooler air outside the engine bay. I've run them inside and out side and the only down side to out side is when it rains. Of course it rarely rains in Vegas so........... I think Erick found my idle problem but I can't be sure cuz he won't let me drive it yet :hahano:. As long as he has been on the road for the past two months, thanks to a LOT of fucked-up situations, I have discovered that I can pretty much handle everything for BHR on my own. As such, things may change in AZ.

concerning k&n filters outside the engine bay--read some of eric meyers threads and how he lost an engine due to a K&n filter outside the engine bay picking up much more dirt and not filtering it etc. He stated KN filter inside the bay is ok because it doesnt suck up as much dirt.
K&n is not known for its filtering ability. Get a dry filter like aem. Totally agree the air is cooler outside:) |

just cut that damn front bar ( half off the top) and you have plenty of room for a regular aem filter
Plus this.....https://www.rx8club.com/attachments/...cooler-001-jpg https://www.rx8club.com/attachments/...cooler-001-jpg the bigger air water cooler really helps, its only 1 1/2 inch thick and its not stacked on top of the a/c condensor. This + an outside dry air filter will knock the intakle charge temps down a good bit--i have seen 20-30F degrees difference in IAT temps and 15-20F difference on post intercooler temps ( after it is heat saturated) |
