I was thinking of cutting it into three pieces, but yeah, that piece is a bit expensive but I'm sure with some digging around we can find some generic U-J 3 and 3.5 inch pieces. I was thinking I might want to try building one where it comes out, goes straight downwards, then across and I wanted to build a ram-air type intake - if I can find some scrap pieces, lol. I like mine the way it is though.

You can't do 3.5 on the 2 90deg. turns, you only have 3.0 to play with. You can buy the 3.0 U and cut it in half then get it welded, or use a 3.0 coupler. the UJ is good for 2 inch, then the 45deg, then 8 or 9 inches you drill hole 4 inches each way or 4.5 inches each way depending on the size you cut it.

you don't want the recirculate fitting on the maf tube anyway, you want it further back or it might interfere with the air readings.

There are couplers that have this inlet, no welding required. Search eBay for it, you want the length not compromised by the BOV recirc. or it will probably mess up your MAF readings.

The grounding kit makes the engine bay look busy.. Does it work good? What's the advantage of it? Ignition-wise?
I like the BOV, BTW, I just installed the same one on my car, all I can say is WOW. Awesome BOV. |

I got this idea from tdiddy and can't think of why it will not work perfectly. From home depot I bought an 1" OD hose barb to 1" NPT plastic adapter from the plumbing section, two plastic 1" NPT thin nuts, and a few ~1mm thick tough rubber washers all for just a few bucks. I used that same 1" hole saw to cut a hole in the 45 degree bend 3.5 to 3" reducing silicone coupler (after slipping it onto a 2x4 wood stud for support). I also used a hacksaw to cut the hose barb part a tiny bit shorter.
All this took just about five or ten minutes and cost about five bucks and it seems tight and strong as hell. The recirc will be at least 7 to 8" or more after the MAF so I can't see it being a problem. Notice it does not intrude into the airspace either. I can't wait to try it out. |

Need a bit of help, if you guys don't mind. My custom intake set up is as shows. The piping extends in the front portion bumper, like the mazsport cai. Does this look ok? I am bit stumped on how I would put in place the stock mesh screen. I also confused to WHERE is the hosing I need to connect to the Oil Catch Can. I am a bit tired of seeing it just sit there in my garage. As you can see I only have two hoses opposed to the earlier models having three. Anyone with a stock 06 or turboed 06 can give me a hint? All input is greatly appreciated.

no matter what you do it's not going to be ideal. the greddy maf housing isn't a perfect circle, and the expansion and reduction of the diameter is too abrupt and right next to the maf sensor...
