Compression C-1 pipe help
Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone had any helpful hints on how to get the compression pipe bolted to the top of the turbo when its bolted down to the manifold. I sat there and stared at it for about a good hour, laughing and saying WhoTF designed this! LoL! I really dont want to take the turbo off again cause I just did that about 3 hours ago to get the actuator put on. Ready to take all this shit off and put it back to stock! Any and all help is appreciated! |
i installed mine by using a long extension from the engine bay...if you deleted your air pump, you can get to it....it's kind of tough to get the bolt started...no easy way around it really. the gasket was the biggest problem for me...i used a little bit of rtv to hold it in place so it wouldn't keep sliding off

do you have a stubby open end wrench in that size? i found it really easy to get to with a stubby (i cheated and used a stubby gear wrench) i just layed down underneath the car and reached in there!

I cant get this pipe on so when I get back from my honey moon there will be a turbo kit for sale. Wasted 2 days on this. Sick of it.
Edit: Im not selling turbo, was pissed off in the moment. Sorry! |
Two long extensions, a 10mm socket with a knuckle joint.
Go in from above, by the washer bottle, make sure the gasket is in straight! S |
Exactly stealth....I forgot I used a joint too.
Don't give up dude, you have done the hardest part already; installing the turbo itself. Maybe there is someone in your area that's installed this kit before that can help you. |

Did you take the engine mount off? Did you drop the motor a little bit? I dont remember having that much trouble with that piece. Try using a ratchet wrench.
|
I didnt drop the motor mount cause according to the directions the motor mount is already back in. Is it easier without it?? Im getting very good at taking that thing out! Lol! I went and had a couple beers and feeling pretty good right now and now feel better about trying this again! Just have to wait 2 weeks. :(
|
just be happy you can walk away from frustration...good luck man.. dont want to see that one bolt hold you back!

yeah if you take the motor mount out, and drop the motor. its a breaze just to put it on with your hands and tighten it with a stuby rachet.

.......... take the motor mount out, and drop the motor..........
DANGER WILL ROBINSON!! DANGER!! If you remove the mount, the next thing that will hold the weight of the motor is the wastegate actuator! It will be irreparably damaged if you let it touch the frame rail below. Hear me now, and believe me LATER! S |

The term - 'drop the motor' is misleading, 'lower gently while watching carefully' is a better description.
Kane says lose BOTH mounts and push the motor driverways, but it I could never get it to work for me..... S |
