Composite Plumbing- Feasible?
Composite Plumbing- Feasible?
Hey guys, been a while. I've got an incomplete Mazsport turbo kit sitting in storage that I haven't touched in ages (consistent lack of funds) that I'm thinking of finally doing something with. It's missing damn near all its plumbing besides the manifold, so a lot will need to fabbed. Instead of farming it out, since I have some limited experience in working with fiberglass, I was curious about the feasibility of homemaking the cold-side plumbing all in fiberglass and/or carbon fiber. Has anyone ever does this? Obviously there are carbon intakes, but depending on the quality/setup of the molds we could be looking at pipes with far less need for joints, which could cut down dramatically on the potential for boost leaks. If anyone's seen a setup like this I'd be really interested in a link.
Also, side question, where's a good place to get a properly-sized MAF housing? 3.375" ID tubing is proving to be a rare animal, even for google.

you can buy a 3.5" OD x 1/16" wall aluminum tube and weld-on aluminum Mazda MAF housing for a 3.5" OD tube and have it made accordingly, it will be a lot less work and more reliable
