You are correct.

BDC did my bridge port, A local did my assembly, and I have close to 50k miles on the motor. So I don't think that reliability is an issue when it's assembled properly. The problem is the limited gain vs reliability.

Power wise, it's not worth the cost unless you're just looking to squeeze that extra 5~10HP out of the motor (if that). As WTBRotary! said... Engine dyno plz. You'd have to have the same person spec out very similar engines, then compare the 2 with one ported and the other stock. I doubt that the numbers would be very drastically different to even justify the cost of establishing those perfect world numbers.

One thing I can say for sure is that an N/A bridge port is not going to add 20HP even in a perfect storm. I stand behind my earlier comments that there are much better ways to spend your money to make an RX8 fast. For the cost of shipping and and or labor, I don't even think that it's worth doing "just because it's already torn down". The N/A gains just aren't there with porting when compared to earlier 13bs, and when you start throwing FI in there, you REALLY can't quantify the impact of the porting.

I believe Ric Shaw experimented with bridgeporting in the early years to look for gains so he could offer the service to his customers. He did not find any major benefits so after a few attempts so he does not recommend this to his clients.

He is offering a "custom port" as part of a rebuild with proven gains.

I believe PPRE (6 rotor builders) have their own special port which is quite effective.

I may have to do some digging

I too have heard that PPRE have a pretty nasty port for the 13BMSP that actually makes power. I'd love to hear more about it.

I tuned and dynoed a car ported by them in Hamilton . It goes pretty good I have to say ...
But I don't think it's any better than what has been done in the States.

That's the one, I remember now that you tuned it.

Did you get to see the port job itself?

No , they were staying pretty tight lipped about it . But I really don't think it was anything to get excited about .

Any reduction in EGT's with the BP?
