there's always the option to raise the engine and provide some more room down low

Hi all, newbie here, subscribed to this thread. Very interested to see progress and results.
I'm impressed with the WG idea. OP: did you buy the GT3582r with the twinscroll housing or did you have to buy the housing separately? seems like it has to be purchased separately here in UK :( |

question, are you running standard 10:1 compression in this motor or have you reduced it?
|
Has anyone released low compression rotors for Renesis?
|
One o the Pettit SC guys has low compression rotors ... they need to be machined for the oil control rings . I'm running stock.

Brettus... Forgive me if I have missed this but what ecu and fuel system are you going to use? Only asking as I'm planning on putting Renesis engine trans and rear axle into my car and looking to do something similar to what you're doing here. Thx.
|
^ Stock ECU tuned with Cobb AP is the way to go (but sounds like you are not doing this to an 8); and I'm certain that is what Brett is using but I'll let him have the final say on that..... I'd say 99% of people around here are going to recommend that route on an FI'd 8. What vehicle are you planning to drop this into?

is this regarded as the best choice for FI applications?
*edit* just reading through Brettus original thread about it now :) I think the Adaptronics would do it .......... Team ? As far as doing the same thing goes .... might work out better in an application that has the room . I would certainly not use the turbo I did if I had more room . |
IMO if you're talking about swapping an FI rotary into a different chassis then the REW or Cosmo 13B is the way to go rather than a Renesis
Come to think about it, RX8 chassis too ... . |

What's your opinion of the gt3776/ gt3782? They come in T3 twinscroll as far as I can tell.
Had a quick look just now . The turbine side is certainly large enough but the compressor side is too small on both of them . IMO The GT3788 looks like a better match to me but is too big (physically)for what I'm doing . |
There are new GTW options that look interesting for a rotary just by compressor vs turbine sizing, but the maps are not out yet and I think they are longer overall due to a new, larger chra
And the housings are all different now too I think ... |

But it appears to bring the Garrett closer to the non-EFR BW turbos wrt the rotary application
|

Where did that pic come from Team? Brett send it to you?
|

Even if you paste the pic link or grab it off your device, but don't save it the site now stores it whether you like it or not
Kind of f'd up ... . |
rx8club is now facebook it seems
|
exciting!!
|
The good news is I did some tuning for a well known rotary shop yesterday (PPRE) and in exchange I get a day on the dyno with the main man there helping me . So I should be able to get this thing dialed in pretty well .
|
pick me up a 4 rotor engine while you're there ...

I already have some resistors I was going to use to decrease voltage by 10% which should be good to 500g/s . Was going to try it beforehand but never got around to it . |
let us know how that resister goes, I have stuff for a 4" maf but never got around to doing it....
|
Will do .... although i'm not contemplating needing it for a wee while yet
