^^read the first post and looked in axial flow's site. this IS in fact one of the perfect, perfectly sized, and perfectly mild turbo one with a 10-50whp would have in mind.

why don't axial flow just chime back in and make an effort to make it happen? people are willing to spend $300 for noise and 2-3 hp on a intake... what'll this supercharger be???..... a thousand or two? thats a functioning horsepower adder anyone will if priced under the magical $3k mark for some turbo kits.

WE NEED A $1-2k SUPERCHARGER KIT!

i'd spend $1k on this for a miniscule 10-15whp... wouldn't you?

No. I don't know anything about this product... but yeah I wouldn't void my warranty, and deal with the complexities of FI to pick up 15 whp... no thanks. If I'm going to go through the effort, I'll take 300+ whp.

this will NEVER EVER be a $1-$2k supercharger. I've talked to Richard in person about this kit and financially it would not make ANY sense.

By Richard's own admission, this kit will most likely never be a revenue producer for him as too much time, effort, and engines have already gone into it.

I need a $100,000 Ferrari 599.

The axial flow is the most expensive compressor to produce so don't look for it to be your cheap kit.
I'll never recover from this venture but I still want to give it one more shot. I have an idea but even if it works I can't promise production at an affordable price. There might be some pricing help from Hymee's reflash but we haven't talked about it yet.
I'll let you know.

what effort are you talking about?
please take a look at the site for a picture they have up. you see how small that thing is? it looks like something that can be installed in under an hour if it were available.

as for 300+whp, thats you, not everyone. and how did you get a starting number of 300? is it because its been whats survivable and reliable so far?

realistically 50whp is "appreciable" is all i'm saying. i'm not contesting with what you like, but i'd like to play it on the safe side. and not everyone "wants" 300+ just so they can compete powerwise with their competitors. i for one am not a drag racer...and that would be a nice touch.

sorry, and i mean ~50whp.

well.... that is just some mighty wishful thinkin i had there. i must've posted while i was pretty tired.

while i can see it not happening from a material and machining standpoint. it sure would be nice if all the machining process for something like that have been out for a while. but being such an exotic looking SC, i doubt that.

again, wishful thinking and posting tired. but had i woke up and it were true...
i'm sure many would love you for it.

BTW, what would one of the smallest cfmflowing likely put down. a very mild, reliable one had you choose to experiment it for realworld use?

For a variety of reasons, I am interested in axial-flow superchargers with low intake charge temperatures and am wondering what price point would axialflow need to be able to charge for this to be a financially viable product? I realise that $1-2K is too low. What price would work for them, financially? My intention is to keep my 2004 for it's full life. I am intending to eventually teach my 17 month old daughter to drive in it, so I would prefer mods that have very smooth, predictable increases, preferably up in the upper RPM, and which keep the strain on the engine as low as possible.

that's an answer only Richard has.
I would imagine $5k +

either way, this project is pretty much dead, Richard has moved on to installing these on some good 'ol fashioned American muscle.
I would suggest you look elsewhere for a Forced Induction solution.

I know I'm a little late in the game here, but I just wanted to give some of my own thoughts to Mr. Richard Paul. As I'm not going to read through 232 pages worth of posts, I'll just hope that this hasn't already been mentioned.

I think it would probably be wise from a financial standpoint to not concern yourself with vehicle specific kits. Instead, stick with substantially customizable/scalable superchargers, and let the performance shops and kit makers use the hardware you specialize in. This frees you up to work strictly on compressor designs, and thus opening you up to a much larger market. I would love an axial supercharger for my 8, but I'm sure vette, and Nissan Z, and mustang owners would too. In fact, you never know who else might be interested. By not bogging yourself down with just a fraction of the potential market segment, you'll have the opportunity to bring costs down, and in turn, market share up. It'll certainly enable you to be a lot more competitive. After all, most turbo manufacturers do it that way.

I would like to see your products succeed in the automotive tuning scene, Mr. Paul. I personally like the product's potential, and by refocusing your company's mission, I think it'll be the most promising way for me to one day find your product in my RX-8.
