6 pad ACT clutch - overkill?

I got a 6 pad ACT clutch and Streetlite Flywheel. I'm wondering if the clutch is a bit of overkill. I have a Greddy Turbo/Interceptor set up with a freshly ported Renesis with custom low compression rotors. I looked at the ACT chart and this clutch seems to be about middle of the road between street and race. What do you guys think?

How much power are you making with all that? (And where did you get the low-comp rotors for that matter) Not that I know anything about clutches, I just want to hear about the motor.

I think it's over kill.

You could have used the heavy duty clutch.

the pressure plate determines how much it holds, the pad dictates the engagement.

it's not exact, but in a nutshell, that's about how it goes.

A local rotary tuner, Alex Lopez, fabricated the rotors. The motor goes in tomorrow so I could not tell you how much power it is making. I dont expect alot of power since I am still using the Greddy turbo. I'll post the dyno graph as soon as it gets tuned, which should be early this week.

Yeah, thats what I had read. I got the Heavy Duty pressure plate. I was just wondering if the clutch would hurt my tranny.

My car is stock (no TC kit). and had both the ACT Heavy duty clutch and the ACT flywheel.
I felt that the Heavy Duty Clutch is abit "Over Killed" initially but not the Flywheel.

Reason. cos it takes alot of hard work to step on the Clutch especially during Traffic Jam periods.
But after mths of driving, I learn to control the clutch smoothly, and my car is moving smoothly during gear changing. my leg gets stronger and stronger everyday. Its no longer that hard anymore.

too much depends on how you drive. if you launch it with sticky tires, it'll break ****. however, if you drive off the line soft or maderately, it shouldn't hurt a thing.

those low-comp rotors... they gonna be fore sale anytime soon? i'd love to have the first 400+whp pump gas powered, daily driven, smog legal renesis.

I'm a little concerned now, I have 275 RT615s in the back, I guess those are pretty sticky. As far as the low compression rotors, I will let you know after I fire up my engine and all is well, I guess I am the guinea pig.

AFAIK, the 6 puck disk is unsprung and the engagement is severe. Then again, that was an ACT 6 puck for another car. (and it broke stuff.) Are you going to drag race the car, or autoX it? or maybe just cruise on the Turnpike at speed?

The 6 puck is overkill.

The exedy clutch for the 8, is the same one for the FC turbo II

Im 99% sure the flywheels and clutches from the turbo II's work on the 8's.

You didn't ask my opinion either, which is why you get it for free; sounds like a good way to ****** the gears right out of your transmission, but then I'm jaded ...
