I was very disappointed with the Bose system. Then I turned on the audiopilot, and it seemed to come alive much more. Still isn't great...but it is MUCH better IMO than it was before.

Which model Infinities, Genom? Did they drop right in? I searched for any other posts from you on this subject but got too many, then too few, responses.

Thanks.

I upgraded my non-Bose speakers with Infinity Kappas (6.5 components in the front and 6x9 2-ways in the back). Also used dynamat to stop vibrations in the door. The sound is much better, but it still needs an amp and possibly a sub.

no highs, no lows, must be bose.

If you are looking for quality sound, Bose will only get you going in the wrong direction.

If you are looking for quality sound, first you must define "quality sound." Personally I define quality sound as that which sounds the same coming out as it did going in. IOW, flat response throughout the audible range. No peaks or valleys, just flat. This can be at low volumes or at loud ones -- volume doesn't matter when it comes to quality. I know many of you will disagree with that last statement.

I have some friends who use a Bose system for their band. It sounds simply amazing! You can hear every instrument and voice clearly in nearly all parts of the venue without having to have so much volume that the audience up front is blasted out of their chairs. And everything sounds just like it does without amplification only louder. What more can you ask from a sound system?

You are right my friend, Bose is the joke of the audio industry, but with their great marketing they are laughing all the way to the bank at our expense. Your original quote "no highs, no lows" really came from the Bose reps. years ago. Bose sucks, but you can always listen to the wonderful rotary engine.

I just got my 8 a week ago and the only thing that I am disapointed in is the BOSE stereo. I had a 98' Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Infinity gold system in it, now that was an awesome system...MUCH better than this Bose stuff. However the rest of the car is a dream!!

I've found the best eq settings to be Treble+6 and Bass+4 for a wide variety of music. The audio pilot compensates for interior noise and makes it more "punchy" I think it sounds great. It's like the "loudness" feature on other systems.

Treble @ +6????? You may some have high freq hearing damage. Anything over +1 for me is painfull to my ears.

If you're looking for Infinity components that are drop-in size for the base front doors, the model number is Infinity Reference 6800cs.
'Drop-in' is valid for the woofer only - you will still have to install the tweeters in a non-drop-in fashion.
