where does the metra box go?

So I just got everything hooked up and the double din head unit installed, but there is no place to put this frickin metra box. It has to stay close to the HVAC controls since there are no extension cables and the stock ones are very short.

I've been searching google and this forum but can't find anyone with tips or pics of where to put this honkin thing.

Do any of you know where this metra box can be placed/mounted?

I used the metra kit to install a pioneer avic double din. Theres just enough room behind to squeeze it in under the new radio kinda behind the climate control *****. It's a pretty tight fit but I managed to make it work.

I put the box behind the ash tray. The cables will reach.

I found out that it's supposed to come with some extension cables. Metra is sending me the cables that extend the temp and fan ones... at that point I'll be able to stick it somewhere.
