Hi glassetcher - sorry for the long delay to reply.

I dunno about necessary, but I love the swivel base. The ProClip holds the phone in a nice position for a quick glace maximizing eyes-on-road, but just today the setting sun threw a terrible glare on the screen. I just twisted the swivel base a bit and the glare was gone. :worship:

The swivel has an adjusting screw to set the right tightness and you can keep it quite firm because the ProClip arm on the side of the console is sturdy. No vibration, no give - just holds rock solid like it was part of the car. :icon_tup:

It was kinda pricy to get the whole two-piece set-up, but it holds my $500 phone in my $35,000 car, right? Actually, I resisted buying it for almost a year, but Ian did hook me up with an awesome price, charged my credit card and had it drop shipped to me right promptly.

Cool-Blue-Dad, thanks for the info. I went ahead and popped for the same thing you have (I think). I may not get it for a week or two - Ian wasn't too sure. I just received the Mazda iPod interface today and will probably install it Saturday. I'm thinking of bringing the connector out of the lighter compartment, which would bring it right below the ProClip holder. What do you think?

I think you'll never be sorry you bought the ProClip. :)

I don't have the iPod interface (being that I'm one of 9 people on the planet who still uses a humble Rio instead of an iPod), but I have been aspiring to hard-wire my charging cable into the back of the lighter and run the cord up the side of the console under or along the ProClip arm. I would much prefer to have my lighter-door closed. Perhaps on some warm, sunny NY fall Saturday I'll do that. :hahano:

Between my legs. As Marky Mark once said, "Feel the vibrations!"

For those of you that don't want a mount and want quick, easy access with the phone in perfect view, I vote eGrips (www.egrips.com).

I was skeptical at first but my buddy got them and these things are awesome. I have a Verizon XV6700 (PDA phone) which is pretty large and heavy. I put the eGrips on and unless I'm really cornering hard (and I do mean HARD) I just stick the phone on the dash or on the console infront of the seat warmer buttons and it DOES NOT MOVE! I can even take clover-leaf freeway onramps at 35-40 and it doesn't budge. Highly recommended.

Did you get it glassetcher? Do you love it?

glassetcher 11-15-2006 03:50 PM

Got it. Installed it. Love it! Although I agree with others that there's not much use having the iPod mounted like that for most people, since the iPod is passive with the Mazda interface, it works for me because I update podcasts each day that i listen to to and form work. It's a lot easier accessing the iPod with this mount than it would be getting into the golve box each day. Besides, it just LOOKS COOL. :smoker:

Zoom, Zoom!

Bump for the new forum members. I was really relishing the Pro-Clip while driving all over during the holidays. Many thanks to DRKSYDE for helping me secure a great deal. I thought I had a better pic of my own install -

Oh well, DRKSYDE got some better angles.

You guys make this way to hard on yourself...
...best place to put your cellphone so you NEVER EVER forget it is on your seatbelt.

For those of you that leave your cell lose in your pockets:
1 - Take phone out of pocket
2 - Get in car
3 - Close door & fasten seatbelt
4 - Open your phone and turn keyguard on
5 - Close phone so that it clamps down onto your seatbelt by your shoulder

No matter how hard you drive, it won't budge from your shoulder. If it rings, the speaker will go off right in your ear. If it's on vibrate, you're GOING to feel it...

For those of you that keep your phones in carrying cases with belt clips:
1 - Unclip from belt/pants/whatever
2 - Get in & buckle up
3 - Clip phone onto seatbelt down by the buckle

Most clips are bulky and rattle, so putting them near your shoulder would either be unconfortable or severely annoying. The phone is out in the open, however, so you have a better chance of hearing it if it rings. If it's on vibrate... well.... you're out of luck then.

You'll never forget it when you get out, and it won't bounce around while you drive.

I have a krazor. Fits perfict in the sunglass holder. gota use it for something since my sunglasses won't fit.

Brettus 01-08-2007 01:57 PM

I use velcro pads - next to the handbrake .

rebelx 01-08-2007 03:53 PM

I put mine in the cup holder or pocket. I have the Motorola Car kit. It will either auto answer or I can hit the blue led button and talk via a mic and speaker. No caller ID display.

i_luv_my_rx8 01-08-2007 04:05 PM

I usually keep it in my purse, or in the center console cup holder.

You don't use it at all when you drive? I try to avoid it, but odds catch up with me on longer trips so I like having a suitable cradle to hold the phone in a good position.

i_luv_my_rx8 01-09-2007 12:05 AM

Nope. Unless it's an EMERGENCY I won't call/answer other people's calls when I'm driving. There's nothing that pisses me off more than people driving and gabbing on the phone.

I found an interesting new place to stick my cell phone. I used to put it in the ashtray but i got a gauge pod. I was putting it in the cup holder but I kept leaving it in the car all the time. I started putting it between the shifter and the e brake, but it would fall sometimes. It did stay there like 90% of the time though. Then i realized why not put it "in" the e brake. I have a voyager from verizon

MyRXdrug 04-30-2009 10:33 AM

Usually in my inside jacket pocket or front jean pockets, though the latter is hard to get the phone out. I have a blue racing car seat phone holder which I always get compliments on, but the clips are way too short for the 8's airvents. Plus I don't know if my BB Pearl will fit in it.

NACer4lyf 04-30-2009 11:22 AM

i keep mine in between my legs...
