What wire do you use for always on power?

I'm installing an Omnifi DMP1 into my RX-8 and I'll be placing the screen for it where the ashtray is. I need an ignition on and a dimmer wire, but both of those are taken care of by the lighter (the lighting around it is on the dimmer circuit). What I need to know is where is an always on circuit? Do I go to the fuse box, or is there something in the dash I can use?

Thanks,

~ Matt

An always on circuit... so that would mean the wires to something that is always on in the car, regardless of opening/closing doors, turning ignition key, etc.... I don't know of any circuit that can provide this to you, but can you wire directly to the battey?

Try the always "hot" wire on the switch by the brake pedal....
Top wire on the right of the connector.
(Did so on mine to use a relay to control my footlight LEDs)

All cars have circuits like this to keep power going to the stereo (don't want to lose your radio pre-sets!) and to the computer. I just don't know which is which.

The brake light idea is a good one, though I was hoping to find out which wire to the stereo I could tap into. I may have to get the multimeter out and play around a bit.

If you figure it out, can you let me know? I'm going to try to put Sirius in my mom's 8 and I need to know which is the "always hot" wire going to the stereo. Thanks!
