What is the button at the end of the radio that says "Tape/MD"...how the heck would that work? Why would the tape deck and what I guess is a MiniDisc option be on the same button?

you can only have one or the other because the units fit in the same "slot" the button is marked with both so you know which button to push whichever one you get. there is no firm confirmation yet (it's not listed as an option on the website) for the md player

I think the MD is an option in Japan, due to its higher popularity over there. Like Zoom said, it is still unknown if it will be availiable here or not.

The MD is confirmed for the US 8's. It's listed as an option in the new brochure and in the new accessories pamphlet.
