Found all that a long time ago... like I said in another post... it takes an ATI VGA2MAC monitor adapter off eBay for $1.50 to do the conversion to RGB+S. The monitor is capable of up to 800x600 interlaced 30hz at 15khz (approx) vertical freq's. Might go higher res but it'd look even more blurry. My issue is still with the video card on my laptop. I'm going to try a friend's laptop with an Nvidia card to see if it will put out a viewable signal at the above res and freq. Alternatively a scan-rate converter could be used but is an expensive option.

I believe nVidia drivers have an option to enable or diable interlace...

But there is a software call Powerstrip that can adjust about every video setting possible, even custom resolution that will match the LCD. Maybe this will help with your experiment.

hey antichristpm or anyone else electronically inclined...could the extron cvc-200 work for a Component video to RGBs (navi) input?

here lots more info on the CVC-200: http://www.extron.com/product/product.asp?id=cvc200
I already attached the manual (input output specs on top and bottom of doc)

also I found a good deal on the Extron CVC-100 (recently discontinued) Component to RGBs converter (relative to the $895 retail price tag)
http://www.broadcastvideogear.com/pr...23&itemid=7389
here is the spec sheet : http://www.extron.com/download/files...vc100-spec.pdf

thanks

It looks like it'd definately do the same trick the $1.50 adapter would but I didn't see any specs on output frequencies. If it did the 15khz/30hz interlaced then it'd be a good work around for a video card that isn't capable.

the specs...I'll type them up later

that is a good question though...is our RGBs monitor standard RGBs specs?

I don't know if this will help, but it can't hurt.

I have been watching this thread, I have searched for freq/res. and can't find any info.
Maybe input to display gives you some more info you need?

I have 3 carputers in 3 cars in my family...(all hondas! )
i turned my accord in for rx8...took carputer out and now i have a problem since i have a a factory nav screen.
I know i am a noob here, but i am pretty long in the carputer forums....to the point, I been reading posts, and it seems that piineer $200 tv turner is an option...then the avelectronic.com is a $500 option and now this vga to rgb+sync is the third...

If anyone can help me understand, what is a way to connect either a composite or a vga signal coming out of my carputer?!

Please please please...any help if relevant

yes that would work . but you need a switch for the 4 wires. The RGB output needs to go to a switch and the RGB out put of the OEM DVD. The switch will then decide witch RGB output sources goes to your LCD. That way you can switch from your box to the map DVD.

and you need to tie the ground into the oem DVD iso ground.

I just used a regular 2 way KVM switch w/a push solenoid to toggle the vga back and forth from the front. With those wires patched to VGA cables this works.

wow...so
1) i need 3 of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...711135258&rd=1

2) then plug them into the :http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW KVM switch

and thats how it works?
Sorry, I just dont have the perfect picture....
Also if this is how it works...Would it be possible to plug vga into the kvm switcher and have no need to get a 300 rca converter for my caputer rca out. ?
