Those w/Bose are stuck replacing the entire system?

I've been lurking here reading the threads and hoping to see someone successfully upgrading the Bose system without a large investment, i.e., just speakers, tweeters, etc.

Looks like the best thing to do is tear out the Bose, replace all the speakers and add an amp and subwoofer and be done with it.

Grrr, that's one expensive sunroof I bought with the touring package.

Hi Mike, you old timer you at this fourm.

Thanks for chiming in. Can I pry specifics out of you and if you thought the cost was worth it for the improved sound (I hope)?

Cactus George's earlier problems have me spooked.

However, I'm game for DIY replacing the HU with the MP3 player and front speakers/tweeters. I'd rather break things myself than pay someone to do it. At least I'll know what's broken and not find plastic chunks under my seat when vacuuming.

I don't need much more to enjoy the sound system in the car.

I believe I found my answer in this thread. Just replace the Bose tweeters. Perfect low budget improvement to Bose system and it looks easy, too.

How does one close/delete a thread?

Also, what you can try instead of replacing the tweeter is actually adding one. See this thread.
