Is there an HDTV Tuner for the car

I am considering putting in the connections fot a nav to TV hook up, but I wanted to put in a TV tuner/DVD player. It hit me when I was putting my plans down on paper, that analog tv signals are going off air and all that will remain will be HDTV signals. I did a check on line and I could not find such a tuner for the car. Does anybody know if they have made one for cars or do I just need to stay confined to the DVD player?

You could always do a carputer install and use an ATI TV Wonder or something similar if you want off-air TV in your car. The new versions support digital TV, standard and high definition. There are also USB solutions that do the same thing.

if you use an antenna you will no longer get a signal. they do make satellite for cars but the dish is huge.

digital signals will be broadcast over the airwaves and you could in theory make an antenna that would pick them up... you could in theory queef a rabbit out of your **** and have it hit a pigeon at 100 meters.

the signal will be LOS and trying to position an antenna in a moving vehicle is a bit of a chore.

I think the problem isn't so much the antenna (any existing antenna will theoretically do) but that the receiver needs to be able to pick up a digital signal. It's like using a ten year old tv connected to a new DirecTV box with an off air antenna. The TV itself won't pick up the digital signal by itself with an antenna but the DirecTV box will. On the other hand, a new TV with an antenna will also pick up a local digital signal.

In the case of TV in a car, it's my understanding that most if not all current receiver boxes will need to be upgraded or an adapter attached to get the digital signals.

Google the "Kenwood MPH". As far as I know it will be the first Digital Receiver for mobile. Some articles claim it will pick-up signal up to 130 mph. If the link is still active check it out. http://blog.sounddomain.com/gadget/2...d-mph-dig.html
