I saw and heard Mike's set up in person on Saturday. Very professional install job with great sound.

Congrats Mike.

The only problem i see with that is they tapped off the high level of the rear speakers, so if the bose amp is putting out distortion, it's feeding that to the input of the amp. Any time you add more crap, splitters, crappy cables, etc, it introduces more noise and foreign signals into the system. Seeing this is for the subs, you shouldn't have to worry about it that much. I'm an audio nut, i just took out my system out of my trade-in and should finally be getting my 8 in a few days hopefully. If it sounds good to you, then leave it... I'm worried about that that amp getting hot under that cover. I have two 600-watt infinity kappa amps driving two dual voice coil 10's. For a while i was running it in series-parallel white created alot of heat... good for the winter time... but it was nice and LOUD. then i switched them in normal stereo mode, so the amp saw 8 ohms each, it ran nice and cool and kept the distortion down. You can never have too much headroom... keeps the square waves away

The amp is powered by the battery and the ground is ran to the fuse box. The RCA's are connected to the rear speakers. There is no distortion or any noise from any foreign sounds. The thing is that, the amp has it's own built in bass caps and it's own built in crossovers, so no noice is getting to the subs but solid bass. As well as no noice is coming from the amp the Boss sytems.

If you are questioning who I am, I am MikeB's friend. I'll do periodic fallow ups with you guys to explain ever detail about built up an RX8. MikeB can only explain so much..LOL J/K

I don't have my RX8 yet and haven't seen one in person... My questions are, does the rear seats fold forward to make an opening through the trunk from the cabin? Is it possible to totally remove the rear seats?

rockie....

for 1 , free air style is not worht the $, 2 if you seal them, it is better to face the trunk not the front and 3 removing the back seat will kill an important essence of structure of the car, almost like an insult.
I recomend, 1 learn, 2 think and plan, 3 act wisely .

Ya, I'm not trying to diss out the structure of the RX8. I love the RX8, it's just that I don't have any use for the rear seats and plan not to sit anyone in there. :D I'll be putting the speakers in a sealed box so I guess it will almost the same as facing it toward the trunk.

Errr, wrong POD, it does make a difference if you face them in the front. If you face your subs in the subs your basiacally getting half if what you pay for. If you want the deep gut-rattling bass (i live for that feeling) you need distance from the subs and where you are. if you face them backwards you have to measure the distance to the trunk, and then to your ear (bass frequncies bounce off), if you face them towards the front you have less distance, thus less bass. Just a suggestion POD. Me, I have 3 JL Audio W7V12's in a custom box waiting to be fitted in my RX-8 (still waiting for it)

Mikeb,

SWEET looking setup!

Now, here comes the big question...

IF you had it to do all over, would you keep your current setup or would you go something similar to:

(assuming this could be done with 12's)

Splice it into the center console lighter green wire(in the middle compartment). It will come on whenever the key is turned to any position. Worked for me, but Im just careful to not play my subs for too long without the engine on.

10w7 + 4 guage wiring + JL 500/1 = mucho de la pimp.

as for the 3 12 w7s, unless your gonna remove the back seats and have some crazy custom setup its such a waste of money.

My box is 1.34 cubic feet inside to fit my 10w7, and it takes up a little less than half of the entire trunk space amp and all. The 12w7 requires 1.51 cubic feet to conservatively sound good (which I assume you want since you attempting to get 3 of them). thats 1 foot * 1foot * 1.5 ft. One foot is about the usable interior box height of the trunk, (because you need to factor in the width of the box material). Just one 12w7 in a sealed enclosure is gonna make your trunk unusable for anything but two or three plastic grocery bags of towels with the amp. I know, I tried to fit a 12w7 in there.

And thats using the sealed box measurement! If you really wanted loudness, and I assume you do, you will be using the ported enclosure with an interior volume of 1.89 cubic feet (you need to factor in the driver), With the extra material required for the ported enclosure its gonna come out to be 1.25ft * 1.25 ft *1.8 ft. With the jl 1000/1, thats the ENTIRE trunk for just one speaker used to its full poential! 3 in one trunk setup correctly is impossible!

And if they do it, they threw some halfass setup together just to steal your money. If they even use just 1, its gonna need to face the open cabin because their wont be enough leftover airspace in the trunk to make it effective (might as well just stuff a pillow over the speaker).

The only way 3 could be done, would be to remove the back seats, have a ported speaker fiberglass enclosure column occupy each of the places where the back seats were, and have the third and final one occupying the trunk area with the 3 jl 1000/1 amps. Then if you do plan on using that much power, you gonna need a stonger alternator for your car, a electrical system grounding kit, a few extra dedicated audio batteries and a capacitator. The damn things gonna weight about 350 - 400lbs!

IMPOSSIBLE!
