I just got my car back and i have a 10w7 ported on a 500/1. The setup ended up costing me about 2500 because i did a false wall so when you look into the trunkj, all you see is a wall and it looks as thought i just have a smaller trunk. Also, i added a 1-farad digital cap and a custom bass know next to the DSC off button...ill post pics soon. I had everything done in Dallas at the local tweeters and i hit close to 140 dB....def. loud enough, esp. for one sub. They built the box from fiberglass to keep it lightweight and i have dynamat used sparingly on select parts of the trunk. Ill post pics when i get some more time.

KC_RX-8 and Mike B what are the dimensions of your box's and how did you guys get them in? Im worried about buying a box that I will not be able to get in and out of my trunk if need be. Thanks for the help.

I have installed a 10" Rockford Fosgate in a premade box pointing directly at the pass-through area between the back seats. I have a 200W Sony amp bridged to mono and being fed by a small tap into the rear left speaker to an small line level crossover unit. The power from the amp comes from the 20A accessory jack in the rear of the console. (All wiring is hidden and the install came out pretty nice.) The whole install took less than 30 minutes and it absolutely ROCKS! Plenty of bass to rattle the whole car if you want. I had my Sirius satellite tuner set to classical symphony the other day and some bass came through that was absolutely ground shaking... I've been meaning to post pics of my setup but haven't had a chance. I will post pics soon...

This is my first system ever and want very good/best price is semi-issue but i'm willing to spend $1000 just not much over that. If you guys could make any suggestions they are welcome thanks!

And the legacy amp... well, it's not my choice, but it may work for you. And there is no way it puts out 1800 watts power. Thats its peak power before it melts, i'd bet. I'll wager to say power output is more along the lines of 200watts per channel, more or less. I would recommend a JBL bp600.1 from www.ikesound.com

I have AudioBahn subs and they sound decent to me. They do, however, seem to have a very narrow response range.
Rotarygod had to tweak my box quite a bit to make it sound good. But my original reason for purchasing them was the price factor (I was able to get a very killer deal at the time).

My 2 cents, I put in an Eclipse 200W amp (took a signal from the rear speakers) and run it to a single Diamond 10" sub. The bass was so overpowering I had to turn the gain WAY down. Probably could use a lot lesser of an amp, but I already had it. The enclosure is very small (Diamonds don't need much) and doesn't take much trunk space. My biggest dissapointment is the highs in the car. If I turn the bass to 0 or less, the stock (non-Bose) speaks are way too flat so I keep the bass at +3 but notice if I'm playing music very heavy bass the speakers in the front get distortion. I hope to find some good aftermarket speakers to replace the door and corner speakers. I think the 6X9s are fine and handle the mids just find. If they're rattling, I can't hear it because of the sub. Oh yeah, my other addition is a wireless FM modulator so I can use my Nomad Jukebox.

Just had a sub put in the RX8, sounds awesome for the price. Originally started looking at high-end stuff, JLs, Infinity perfects, etc. Due to budget constraints, I went with a 10" Infinity 1032W reference, and a Rockford 351S pushing 350 watts at two ohms in a subzero box. Sound is incredible. Shakes the rearview so bad it looks like I've been drinking heavily.
Still need to tweak the crossover and output a bit, but hey for 540 installed, the price was definitely right.
Will take pics later if anyone's nterested.

After looking at Subwoofers that were gonna cost me $700.00 plus to install, I think I will just get an Infinity BassLink 10" 200w amplified sub for $200.00. It does not take much room and I really don't want to replace the whole system, just add more depth. www.etronics.com has it for 194.99 best description is at www.woofersetc.com I appreciate any comments about these lesser systems. Thanks

I figure I'll add my custom set-up to this thread for search purposes:
Custom box designed to take up as little trunk space as possible, using 2x Alpine 10" E-Types and Alpine 350W mono sub amp. I posted plans to build the box as well...
