Sub install
So after aquiring some pretty good quality items, I built a custom box to specs. Its my own design....I'm sure there are some out there that use the same type of porting system...but this is mine. Haven't read about anybody with same components so hopefully someone else will benefit by this. I will be installing the set up this weekend and I will pics tonight or tomorrow of box and mounted items.
ITEMS:
(1) JL AUDIO 500/1
(1) JL AUDIO 12W7
(1) JL AUDIO CLEANSWEEP
(1) JL AUDIO SSI
(1) 1 Fared MONSTER Cap
Head unit, mids/tweetes all stock BOSE will remain.
As most have seen where to splice into rear speakers, I'll be doing the same and go into the SSI first which in turn gets signal to Cleansweep and delivers 8V outputs to amp. NICE!! The box, which I'll post pics up of will go into pocket of trunk where spare tire mounts in. I'll make a cover panel after install to hide sub with mesh or something and show amp only which is mounted on same rear facing board next to sub. I've always had 10" subs and I hope I like the sound of a 12". I know the JL AUDIO quality, but the response is what I'm more concerned with. As everybody will notice from pics, the sub does need reconed, $280, so will do it when I get back to work, but aquired all JL items dirt cheap and traded for them. To be continued with pics....
Also, if anyone has a JL mono amp, what terminals are used to power the sub on amp....outside " + " and " - " or two in middel?

I'm assuming that you are referring to a JL slash series 500/1 amp. If so here is the link to the user manual.

You will need a multimeter to properly set up the amplifier. Just follow the instructions and it's pretty simple to do. I have a 1000/1 and installed it following the instructions no problems at all.

I have some pictures of my setup. It is in my 91 Rx7. I am doing t a write up of the box that I am building for our Rx8. Same section as this thread.
Here is a shot of the enclosure that I'm building for our Rx8.
I am building this enclosure for a 10" JL subwoofer. I have doubts that without a full false floor a 12w7 is going to have enough air space in the tray compartment area, but I have not measured so I'm not 100% about that.
