Stereo Install Help In San Diego
Hey Guys,
Have an F90BT and metra kit ready to be installed in my car. I've transferred the HVAC controller to the dash kit and everything is ready to go. Only thing is, I have no idea about the actual wiring between the deck, axxess box and factory system. Any one in the area with experience willing to help for some cash and maybe a case of beer? Would take to installer but cash is tight and would prefer to learn a bit in the process. |
If I was in the area I would do it just for the beer! Figures I'm all the way across the country.
Anyways, try and post this in the Regional Forums if you haven't already. I'm sure there is someone willing to help you out and you might have more luck finding someone if you post it there as well. |
ok so im feeling nice. to hook into the factory system there will be a harness in the box with a red end. that just plugs into the factory system. (pretty hard to mess up & thats all you do with the factory system)....
so lets start with the red plugged harness which you will see is attached to another harness that has a white plug on the end (the white is for the axxess box) just take the pre cut ends of those harnesses which are already hooked together and just do the color matching game to your pioneer. thats pretty much it for wiring. now look at the axxess box....grab ur dash kit and take the plug coming off your temp controls & plug it in and same for fan. also do this with the supplied extention for the 4ways. thats again pretty hard to mess up. finally you will need to cut your dash up to fit the axxess box. so grab a dremmel or some cutters and start cutting. (to see what u actually need to cut take ur kit and the attached axxess box and just place it where it should go....you will see right where the axxess box hits the sub dash so just cut there. but watch out you dont cut the screw holes.) im in PA if u need help. but as long as your not bose thats all you need to do. if you are bose <<laughing>> you have alot more time, work, and money to put into the car. seriously tho. and i was an installer before CCity closed. -Charms |

Would love to see some pics of your setup icedemon!
The description in your sig has me intrigued. |
I would've preferred Icedemon's solution to the bose set up, for budgetary reasons, I had to stick with a Peripheral Sven4. Worked like a charm though.

The description in your sig has me intrigued. such as amps getting extremely hot (weird cuz my gain is less than half on both amps)...which i think may be due to our sealed trunks and no air movement. also the engine whine heard thru the speakers....even tho ive done everything to prevent it but bass blockers which is a bandaid fixer at best. may be due to our altenators facing the way they do. |
The whine is coming from a burned fuse in the ground trace for the preout section in your Pioneer head unit.... remove the head unit from the dash, take a small length of wire and touch one end of it to the case of the radio, take the other end and wrap it around the shield of the rca cable (the end of the rca cable where it attaches to the deck. See if you still have noise or not. This is a known issue on all Pioneer headunits for the last 20 years + . You only get noise in a amplified system IF that fuse is blown. If it has blown, it is due to how the unit / system was installed.

to take a fused ground and soder it to the outside of either the radio rca or my rca i put into it and ground it to the headunit case. or (which i dont feel like doing but taking the HU apart and fixing the P fuse inside on the circuit board)...any suggestions. cuz its mildly annoying but i listen to my music loud and dont notice it unless someone is in the car and the music is low. but u have any ideas about my other issue with my amp overheating? |
