Speedometer Question

Has anyone takin apart the speedometer to see if you can change the bulbs to a different color? Just curious, cause I used to have a Mazda 6s and they were those chip leds. Thanks.

unless the color difference is really important to you, i would leave it alone. as lurch said, they are LEDs so you would just need to soider new ones on, should you want to change them, pretty simple if your good with that kinda thing.

The reason I say not to change it is because mazda did a lot of testing to see what makes drivers get 'tired' when cruising in the car. One of the major ones was eye-strain....you ever notice how you can just be sitting in a car driving and after a couple hours you can be so tired? part of this is cause of eye-strain.

They made the guauges white durring the day, for good visibility in sunlight and they switch to red at night (red doesnt affect your night vision) with soft blue accent lights. They found that red at night not only doesnt afftect your night vision, but also is easyer to focus on.

A lot of time and thought went into the way our gauges look....im happy with it (of course I always changed out my old cars to all red anyway)...lol

Yea, I'm happy with the color of our gauges. Love the red at night. And white looks clean.
Unless you've had experience doing this, you should leave it for now.
